About Me

Hello everybody! I'm a journalist from Barcelona that left everything behind in 2018 to start a new adventure: travelling around the world with no planes and showing how I do it (instagram: @losviajesdewalliver, Youtube: Los Viajes de Walliver). THIS MEANS I AM NOT IN BARCELONA SO I CAN’T HOST ALTHOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO. My plan is very improvised so sorry in advance if I ask for a host in a short notice. For me it would be a true pleasure to stay at your place and get to know you and your culture, I am absolutely in love with this platform and the people who is part of it. For the last three years I've been working as a reporter for the Barcelona's TV news program, a job and a city that I've loved. No doubt this time has been absolutely amazing, but at some point I asked myself: "have you ever been happier?". And surprisingly the answer was "yes"! I actually had been happier when travelling alone with nothing more than my backpack and the curiosity to see, learn and experience more. So I decided that I would save some money and start this new adventure with no return ticket. When I was in college, I spent one one year in a University from Beijing thanks to an exchange program, which made me discover the impressive Chinese society, as well as my love for travelling everywhere. I think I'm outgoing, fun, and a good person to drink with. I am really looking forward to meet new people and cultures. Since I've been abroad I have realised how incredible is to have friends of all around. Now, I don't know if some day I will be able to stop living like this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that there is not a better way to know a city or a culture that with a local person who can show you how is the real life there. I also enjoy meeting new people, and if they are from a different part of the world the experience is double.

Interests

I love travelling (of course), getting lost in a new place...
I used to play basketball and I also like football (soccer).

I actually think that travelling is what fulfills me the most. I hope I can see the whole world and meet every single culture.

Into the Wild

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am the youngest person to cross the Himalayas on foot without any assistance, on the longest, highest and most difficult trek in the world. 1.700 km, 175.000 meters of elevation gain in 99 days.
I bought three horses (and then sold them) in Mongolia and traveled with them across the country.
I went from the Southernmost point of Europe, Punta de Tarifa (Spain), to the Northenmost one, North Cape (Norway) in a bamboo bicycle. 7.000 kms and 8 countries in 142 days!
I have walked from Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam, to Thailand, crossing all Cambodia. Yes, only by foot hahaha
Same in Lebanon: I crossed it all by foot and through its mountains. 500 km of pure adventure!
I’ve crossed all Europe hitchhiking.
An amazing trekking in Inle Lake, Myanmar.
I hitchhiked a boat in Hong Kong
When I was a kid I was snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. I was only eight years old but I was so shocked that I can still remember the huge clamps, turtles, colours and even a tiny shark!
When I was in Yunnan province, China, an old man invited my friend and I to have dinner together. When we got to his place, the whole family was there, in the middle of a pig slaughter and getting ready for the meal. Everything was delicious, and people there was very happy and nice to us. The day after we saw the whole family, again, but this time they were marching on the village streets. On that moment we understood that we had been invited to a funeral!
I've also flown in a balloon in Capadoccia, Turkey.
I spent New Year's Eve on a nomad tent in Sahara desert and a Chinese New Year with a local family in the center of the country.
Once, I was very close to sneeze, but fortunately I finally didn't.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn how to cook different dishes from all around the world, I even can try to cook something for you! If you come to Barcelona I'd definetely show you good places to eat and drink.
