About Me

Hi, my name's Serina and I'm studying history and ethnology in Zurich. I like university but I also try to enjoy my free time to not end up with my nose in books all the time. I'm cheerful, openminded and I like meeting new people, cultures and their stories. I travel because I'm a curious person and I wanna know things. All kind of stuff.
I enjoy the company of others as well as spending time by myself - I need both to have a inner balance in my life. :)

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a book and I want to read as many pages as possible.

THREE THINGS TO PAY ATTENTION IF YOU MAKE A REQUEST

First: I like irony and sarcasm. Don‘t take anything too serious I say.

Second: If your name is Philip the chances are high I accept your request

Third: On the other hand it‘s a matter of commen nowledge that Philipsen don‘t understand my irony. Keep that in mind.

THINGS I LOVE

Chocolate, music, coffee, books, snowboarding, forests, pasta, cats and dogs, swimming in rivers, having the seasons, spending time with my beloveds, snow, palmtrees, deep conversations after midnight, scuba diving, dancing, long phone calls, cycling, driving...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think you're not travelling by taking awesome pictures of touristic places but by meeting people and seeing their everydays life. I don't want to see the country - I want to feel it! Until now I had some very nice couchsurfing experiences and the more people I met the more I got excited about couchsurfing!

Now I'm back in Switzerland I'd like to host people as well and share the same things hosts shared with me during my travels.

Interests

I'm interested in different cultures and their beliefs, customs and traditions, how people live on the other side of the globus - right now but also in the past. It could sound like I'm interested in the life of other people because mine is not interesting enough. Haha. Not true but I think broaden my horizon by travelling brings some interestingness in my life and by the way of course I love meeting people and talk about god and the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like reading a lot and all kind of stuff. I prefer historic novels because I love history but basically I read everything I can catch.
I love watching a good movie and in a good company it's even better. I can't list all the movies I love (tooooo many).
Music... difficult. I'm honest. People tell me (and I know they're right if I'm superhonest with myself) I have a bad music taste. As well as a bad driving style. I mean You can't be perfect in everything and I'm okay with that. :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked my way through the Rockies in Canada.

Started New Year 2017 with an accident in Death Valley, hitchhiked to LA, got nine stitches and catched my flight to Lima 14 hours later.

Did the Choquequirao Hike independently with a friend. Was an awesome experience... If you go to Peru - do it instead of Machu Picchu.

Climbed Huayna Potosi in Bolivia - 6088 meters above sea level, never climbed higher!

Snorkeled with sharks, eagle rays, sea lions, penguins and turtles on the Galapagos Islands - was an absolutely amazing experience!

Travelled for two weeks in Cuba with a Cuban, my phone got broken and I only had a french travel guide book which I found somewhere (my french is not the best). Was quite an intense time but I learned a lot...

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to practice my Spanish and in general all the languages I started to learn at some point.
So don't be afraid to correct me when I make a mistake! It will be appreciated because that's the way I learn it the best. ;)
Vice Versa I can teach you some German or even Swissgerman.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My company, my thoughts and (because I'm a 100% swiss girl) chocolate! I never go anywhere without a bit chocolate in my backpack. Chocolate is love. Chocolate is life.
