ABOUT ME

I am a spontaneous adventurer who loves being outdoors and active. I have worked as a Wilderness Ranger for the Forest Service for the last five years and have done a lot of backpacking and restoration projects as part of my job. I love hands-on learning about culture, new skills, and new areas. I am a bit of a free spirit, and love to travel.

PHILOSOPHY

Living in the moment. I believe everything happens for a reason, but I don't always wait for it to happen to me... A happy life for me is living life to its fullest, grabbing the bull by the horns (to quote some cliches).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to share experiences and show people the beauty of the areas around me. Currently, I would really like to learn about new places and connect with people who like the outdoors.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted students at my college and have had my share of experiences surfing couches across the US and volunteering at my hosts' jobs (this has gotten me in places like the side of a highway in California at 100*F heat picking invasive, spiny plants.) I try to give and receive something good out of every opportunity I can.

Interessi

I love any physical activities outdoors in nature- especially involving hiking, riding, climbing, etc. I like meeting new people and learning new skills. I like cultural events and weird, off-beat information and taking the road less traveled and seeing some amazing sights that most people pass over. I love the act of living.

Musica, film e libri

I love ALL kinds of music, am an avid reader, especially of non-fiction and environmental books, and know my movies quite well.

I like the fact that everything I own fits in my car- I have taken several trips across the country, taking up to three months at a time, no specific agenda, no hotels. I sleep in the back of my car or in a tent, and I go whichever way my steering wheel turns. I've met a lot of amazing strangers who have become family strung across the country.

I also enjoyed my five months in Ecuador, living with native hosts and attending school for ecotourism and environmental management.

I would love speaking Spanish with someone. I enjoy talking with others about traveling, sustainable living, natural ecosystems, etc. Anyone up for adventuring or discovering new hikes? I'll take you!

I also have this dream of learning automechanics, carpentry, and other hands-on, practical skills. I love helping out in fixing things up, so if you've got a project and are willing to teach, I'd love to help.
