About Me

Hello, I am Cassidy! As with most humans on this planet, there are a number of adjectives and titles that seem to attach themselves to us and while there are a number of them that have attached themselves to me, there are few I am proud of, some of which are important while others are simply 'window dressing'.

As such, here are the basics!
*Born in Texas, much of my childhood and years of teenage angst were shaped by the harsh winters and cruel summers of the Texas Hill Country and of South Texas while my heart and eventual adulthood were shaped
by the majestic green emerald of Washington State, Seattle.

I am Trans and my preferred pronouns are: She/They

Trained in the Culinary Arts since age 5, I started working professionally in the industry at 17.

Despite the aptitude and know-how for culinary arts, I trained in Sociology and Social Work because of a desire to work within communities and with at-risk youth [interesting note: my twin sister is a case worker for the State of Texas).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met a number of travelers throughout my life and I always desired a way to connect with people, some way to share a sense of international community in an already uncertain age, Couchsurfing met the criteria I required and enabled me to seek more out of my life while still giving back. I've always believed kindness, selflessness and generosity are necessary ingredients in life and that we could all use some daily [I'm inclined to believe Vonnegut would agree] so I would like to contribute what I can offer to a community of like-minded individuals.

I recently moved to Seattle! I actually started working for a company with an active hand in four local Seattle charities and have been gaining traction in the city despite not having permanently found ground on which to settle just yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been hit by a car while walking (the car was going 45 mph) and survived! Long story, full of odd moments.

I have ridden between three cities in South Texas on a road bicycle during the peak Summer season: it was exhilarating, exhausting, amazing, insane, complex, festive, and a downright raucous time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share recipes with people who are inclined to share & teach their own recipes, I have ridden for a number of years so I have a rather vast intimate knowledge of bicycle practices and tips (I've written a few guides) so I would love to help someone learn to cycle if not cycle more efficiently (not to mention I LOVE to ride), I enjoy philosophy and existential crisis management so if you need some guidance from an outside variable, you can come to me and I will give ya my best.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sociological Observations, Intimate knowledge of numerous useless subjects: Ask me about mirror realities and the law(s) set in place that dictate action/reaction, Computer Diagnosis, Modest culinary skills, general human capability for both gumption and grit.
