Overview
About Me
I am a writer. I write Poetry, Short stories and even have a few novels I chip away at. So far I've mostly written science-fiction and fantasy but I am ever-expanding my horizons. Yet all my work includes underlying themes relevant to society and the world as a whole.
What I really enjoy doing, is reading my stories to people. Story-telling is truly a powerful art. One that I feel needs more prominence. It is an activity which brings people together and gets their attention away from their devices for a little while so we can be present in the moment together.
I am also Studying German in preparation to Attend the University of Basel in Switzerland!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been Traveling for a while and decided I want to settle down in Asheville for the next couple of years. I moved here a month ago and right now I'm way out in the boonies of NW Asheville (30 mins from the nearest bus stop! Which stops running at 7!!) I work downtown and do a worktrade where I am living, the distance between the two places and extra worktrade hours make the situation pretty inconvenient. This is not the life meant to be lived!
I need to get out into the town, make friends, establish connections and experience Asheville to its fullest!!
Thus, I'm putting my stuff into storage and couch surfing around town for a bit while I look for my own place to move into :D

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Mostly instrumental lately (very good for reading & writing) as to the genre it depends on my mood. I love epic; emotional; heartfelt music that moves you to your core! I'll always have a special place in my heart for Celtic & bluegrass.
Classical music, harpsichord concertos etc.
Of course I like the classics: Ledd Zepplin, The Beetles, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc,.
I'd love for you to introduce me to anything you think I may like :) if it has harmony I'm open to it.
I haven't seen many lately. I like all the star wars movies (Really ALL of them). I like the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and have yet to see the second! My favorite movie of all time is Brave Heart.
I need Book reccomendations!
Mostly I ready books about practical knowledge or epic fantasy (I highly recommend The Name of the Wind), lol completely different ends of the spectrum! I need more exposure to everything in between!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh boy here we go...
I should go ahead with this to get it out of the way( it's not that it pains me to talk about it, it's just that it seems to upset others and I've talked about it WAY too many times...)
I had a rough upbringing. I'm sure there were much worse as sure as I am there were much better.
I grew up in the deepest dirtiest part of the deep dirty south; the pan-handle of Florida, U.S.A. You may think " oh Florida isn't really the south."
True. For the peninsula. It's mostly inhabited by old retired "Yankees" and other folk that don't associate with southerners.
The pan-handle how ever is a much different story. I feel that the panhandle should be split between Alabama and Georgia [I would have been in south Alabama(which is what they call it anyway, among other things)] and the Peninsula can remain Florida.
I spent the first 14 years of my life in "south Alabama". I lived in dozens of different trailer parks, sheds, and tents made of tarp and tbc pipe (not a good idea in hurricane season I might add).
Around the age of six my first brother was born and shortly after my mother became a crack-addicted prostitute.
I should add that my father had a violent temper and was a bit on the white supremacist side of things, which was normal for the area, though only significant for mentioning because most of my mothers "clients" were black.
I'm leaving your imagination to workout the dramatic details that accordingly transpired, and will just say that my upbringing was less than desirable.
This is a convoluted way of me saying; The one amazing thing I've done is that I have taken responsibility of my own life and pulled myself out of that grimy rut I was born into. I don't take after my father and certainly not my mother. Nor do I blame them for any hardships I've endured or am still overcoming. I am my own man who seeks peace, love and wisdom (among other things of value) for myself and the rest of the Earth. Everything I have attained and achieved as well as everything that I am attaining and achieving is due do my own volition.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help with language practice (English, basic to intermediate German), I can critique/edit any writing if you would like. I can teach Mauy Thai and a few Krav Maga techniques (Including how to take a gun away at point-blank!)
A main reason I decided to settle in Asheville for a couple years is to immerse myself in a music enriched environment. I'm willing to learn anything anyone is willing to demonstrate. Once I get set up in my own place I'm going to get an upright bass <3
