About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn everything I can & build a foundation of experience for my future life.

ABOUT ME

My friends tell me that I am intelligent, witty, quiet, and calm.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting people & I like not having to pay for hotels. Seems like a natural conclusion, then.

Interests

Life. The Universe. Everything -- pretty much.

But seriously, I enjoy (in no particular order): travelling (obviously), reading, writing, movies, history, good TV, learning languages, learning about languages, learning about learning languages, building with LEGO, making lists, photography, drawing (but I'm not very good at it), acting (which I am pretty good at), troupe improv, music (both listening to & playing), & I make YouTube videos when I have the time.
Above all, I'd say I am interested in learning. Whether it is the aforementioned languages & history, or learning about something I previously cared nothing about, I love listening to people talk about things that interest them, & picking up knowledge in the process. Actually, I just like to listen to people talk in general. I enjoy watching the everyday drama of humanity unfold around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I like most music, but my favourites are Swing, Classical, and Celtic
MOVIES: I am not that picky. As long as it has a good and/or funny story and decent acting I do not care if it is Action, Horror, Comedy, or a "Chick Flick".
But here are some of my favourites:
ACTION:
Die Hard
Indiana Jones
Lord of the Rings
Gattica
& of course, Star Wars
COMEDY:
The Man Who Knew Too Little
Johnny English
The Emperor's New Groove
White Christmas
Murder by Death
A SELECTION OF OTHERS:
It's a Wonderful Life
The Hunt for Red October
Forrest Gump
The Shawshank Redemption
Casablanca
BOOKS: As with movies, I am not picky as long as it is good &/or I enjoyed it (one does not necessarily guarantee the other), but as of February 2015 these are my Top 13 Favourites:
Michael Strogoff
Moby Dick
Frankenstein
Til We Have Faces
Anna Karenina
Robinson Crusoe
Ender’s Game
White Fang
The Kreutzer Sonata
The Two Towers
Crime and Punishment
War of the Worlds
Restaurant at the End of the Universe

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled around the United States in an RV for about four years.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: English if you need it. I can also play the banjo pretty well and read sheet music. I have been told I am a good writer, so if you want suggestions I can share what I know.
Learn: I like to learn any useful/fun skill, but especially interested in learning languages and music.
Share: I will share my limited knowledge with anyone who needs &/or wants it.
