About Me

I like the outdoors, riding bikes, climbing rocks, going up mountains, reading novels, studying how animals and the nature work, swimming in the ocean, walking in forests, experimenting with cooking, getting nerdy about languages, telling and hearing stories, learning new things, and so on.

Pronounce my name:
If you're an anglophone, se-TAR-eh
If you know french: c'est taré :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, travel is not simply about visiting places, but it's more about meeting humans. Couchsurfing has given me unique opportunities to meet people whom I wouldn't have met any other way; (on my travels and in my hometown) it has given character and more meaning to my travels, and that's why I'm eager to keep being an active member of the community.

Interests

• outdoor activities: biking, hiking, trekking, climbing (up for anything from bouldering at the gym to multi-pitch sport outdoors :) ), surfing (I'm a novice at that), kayaking, anything really! I love the mountains. and the ocean. and the forests. but mostly mountains.
• urban activities: exploring bookshops, thrift stores, back alleys, street art, museums of natural history, coffee shops, coffee tours, tea tours, wine tours, anything to do with coffee/tea/wine :D
• riding bicycles: bike touring, road rides, gravel rides, urban cycling, and maybe one day I can afford a mountain bike? all the non-racing aspects of cycling.
• I study zoology (which is animal biology, not zookeeping, by the way). So I like talking about science, ways of gaining, guarding, and sharing knowledge. any nerdy science talks and I'll be happy, though I'm very bad at math.
• I like some random normal simple activities, like washing the dishes while listening to loud music, lying on the ground looking at the sky, looking at maps, going to bookshops to look at and shuffle through books, things like that. (I adore bookshops; so if you can show me your favorite bookshop in your city, that would be awesome.)
If you can relate to these simple pleasures, we'll probably get along pretty well.

Music, Movies, and Books

books:
I like to read, mostly literary fiction, or non-fiction on gender studies, feminism, indigenous studies, and history.
My favourite author is Virginia Woolf, and I also like Roxanne Gay, de st. Exupéry, Robin W. Kimmerer, Roald Dahl, and Oscar Wilde.

music:
I like lots of things, but I grew up with parents who were serious fans of western classical music, so I can tell you lots of random trivia about operas. you'd probably be bored. I like jazzy things, pop-rock, folk, and other random stuff too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked solo in South Africa when I was 19. I was a kid but I learned a lot! I also moved alone to a different country and am surviving grad school so far!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're interested in outdoors, camping and mountains, we'll get along very well. always love to go on an adventure with new friends.

If you're a bit of a nerd, we'll get along very well. I love books, literature, comics, TV shows, science and nerdy things. Let's talk about climate change, minimalism, mindfulness, science, politics or anything, I'm interested to know different perspectives. :) If you're up for intellectual discussions and sharing thoughts and ideologies, we might get along well. (Or might not! Haha)

LANGUAGE EXCHANGE!
I absolutely love learning languages. I have an intermediate level in French (roughly B2) and I always appreciate if somebody helped me with my conversational skills.
If you speak any other language I'd love to learn how to count in your language and say some basic phrases :)
In return, I can teach you how to read the Persian Alphabet (also works for reading Arabic and some other languages), or the cyrillic alphabet, or the Japanese Hiragana, or share the rest of my language knowledge haha

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make you Persian breakfast, with properly brewed Persian tea. I can also cook some fun dishes for you! :)
I'll also bring you Persian cookies! ;)

We can TALK even if we don't have mutual interests, I'm a good talker, even a better listener; and I enjoy storytelling, sharing experiences and cultures. I would offer hosts my time, attention and friendship.

And of course, I'll be helpful at home!
