About Me
Hello! I am Settar Uğur Kurt - a nature enthusiast and ecovillage founder from Turkey! I am travelling around Europe and love exploring new cultures, nature and different ways of living while researching how other ecovillages in Europe work.
İmportant note: I know I don't have any references right now, but a few of my articles have citations :)
🧭 I love adventure but I always take firm steps; I plan and enjoy spontaneous moments. I have a lot of experience in living in nature and sustainability and I love to share this knowledge with others. I don't smoke and eat vegetarian.
Let's talk about the fun side of the job! My priorities are to experience local life, learn about culinary cultures and get to know people. I have a sense of humour and am open to sharing, so finding a common conversation is not hard. Also, throughout my Couchsurfing adventure, I have always prioritized building a trusting relationship, so mutual trust is necessary.
I aim to build friendships rather than “host” or “guest” roles. I bring lots of stories, fun conversations and my wandering spirit. I can't wait to meet you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m here to explore new cultures, connect with amazing people, and see the world through locals’ eyes. For me, Couchsurfing isn’t just a place to find a place to stay—it’s a way to make real connections and meaningful experiences.
I believe the best travel stories are the ones that involve genuine human connections, shared laughs, and new perspectives. Staying with locals and sharing my own experiences allows me to grow, learn, and hopefully leave a positive impact wherever I go.
So, I’m here to meet people who love adventure, have an open heart, and are ready to share their slice of the world!

Music, Movies, and Books
I usually listen to a lot of different songs and everywhere I go I ask people for their favorite songs. I even have a playlist that I created like this.
My favorite song these days is Vinyl Williams- You showed me
I don't have a just one favorite book, but The Seagull Jonathan Livingston
Richard Bach is one of the books that influenced me the most.
My favorite movie is Tschick directed by Fatih Akin
I also love many books and poems in French, but we can talk about them in detail when I host you or when you host me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking for months was the best thing I ever did.
Teach, Learn, Share
Learn: Currently, I'm learning French and exploring ways to deepen my self-awareness. I’m also diving into how ecovillages operate across Europe—so if you're into sustainable living, we’ll have plenty to talk about!
Teach: I’d be happy to share practical tips on personal finance management to help you plan your next adventure sooner! I also have experience in strategic planning for businesses, so if you’re managing a business, we can brainstorm effective strategies together.
Share: And, of course, I can bring a taste of Turkey to you with a traditional Turkish breakfast—it’s a big part of our culture, and I’d love to share it with you!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I bring a friendly and curious spirit, great conversations, and a taste of Turkish hospitality! Besides helping out with any daily tasks, I’d love to cook a traditional Turkish breakfast, share insights on managing finances, and exchange stories from my experience with ecovillages and sustainable living. I believe every meeting is an opportunity to learn from each other, and I’m excited to bring positive energy and good vibes to your space!
