Learning as if I were going to live forever

Building my business as a translator/interpreter in order to be able to work and travel at the same time while limiting my carbon footprint in a world where flying is the norm.

ABOUT ME

I'm an easy going person who is willing to get to know people from all over the world so that I can learn a little bit about their country and culture. I'm not an extrovert so sometimes I need some downtime to recenter. I'm originally from France but I lived in Denmark for 4 years and 6 months in Ireland. I spend about half the year in the US that I can call home and I travel a lot to different countries as well. When I'm not working on my translation projects, I keep writing a book that has to end at some point ;)
With time, I changed my perspective on traveling and while I'm keeping my eyes open, I try to experience more and "see" less. I mean, how many Gothic cathedrals can you really appreciate?

PHILOSOPHY

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever," said Gandhi. Indeed that is the attitude to adopt. We need to be living our lives more fully. Dealing with negativity or the past can bring you down. Keep a positive outlook and life is much more enjoyable.
I believe in Buddhist philosophy and I try my best to be in harmony with the Nature :-)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've attended a few of CS meetings that are organized in my region, it used to be nice but it changed quite a lot and became more like dating meetings and it's sad to see that those gatherings have lost their genuine spirit.
I host and get hosted and create a nice exchange that makes it more valuable than a sterile and cold hotel room. Although sometimes and as I'm aging, I like to relax and be just with myself in a hotel.
I also tell people and reassure them about CS since most of them are skeptical about that community/concept and hesitate to take the leap.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My round the world trip wouldn't have been the same without CS, I'm so grateful to this amazing concept. It's like a lifestyle.
While traveling solo in the US, CS allowed me ro meet te kindest and more generous people ever, I will never forget all those precious and memorable moments we spent together.

兴趣

I love the outdoors. Traveling, hiking, snowboarding, kite-surfing, playing tennis, mountaineering, geography, history, music, animals (but not in my plate ;-), mindful conversation, photography, reading a LOT...
I'm actually trying a digital detox so I can spend more time with books and nature and put down all those screens which is not easy when you're a digital nomad.

I also like independent cinema and non-conventional movies directed by for instance Heineke or Lars Von Trier among others..

When it comes to music, I like different styles but I must say I love the atmosphere conveyed by Air, Zero7, Sufjan Stevens, Erykah Badu, Thievery corporation, Sebastien Tellier, Syntax, The Verve, Mozilla, Simple minds, Sheryl Crow...
I'm keen on books that talks about travel and solo adventures like €œEverett Ruess: a vagabond for beauty€, "A walk across America", €œinto the wild, €œVoyage d'une Parisienne a  Lhassa€, "leaving unknown"...
I also like" All families are psychotic"€, a popular history of American€, €œPanda sex€ and the spiritual books such as those wrote by James Redfield, "the peaceful warrior"...

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Hard to say, what has been amazing to me is the climbing of Mont-Blanc in 2006. Best moment of my life!

Walking through the most dangerous part of Johanneburg without knowing it (apparently I was blessed nothing happened to me).

I'm interested in Tibetan Buddhism, spirituality and metaphysics especially when it implies quantum physics. I’ve realized those last few years that this is the key to better understand our 3D reality.
I can share my experience of travelling, my adventures, my stories.
I've always been good at Tetris and understand how to translate those skills into a real life packing scenario :)
