About Me
Getting to know new things is wonderful. New places. New people.
Become part of their lives and learn to like what they love.
I love to explore the world in its complexity. Making connections between different topics is the only way to really understand the world.
I love travelling. Waking up in new places and not knowing where to go next. Hitchhiking, couchsurfing, talking to strangers. It is so easy to get along in the world. People are so much more friendly than you expect. You just have to ask.
...and you have to offer, not only when you are at home.
Share your time, share life and the world stands open for you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To learn about your stories and share mine with you. To break the rules of politics and being surrounded with open-minded, clever, kind and somehow weird people like me.

If you ever have questions on Istanbul, just text me even if you won't be staying at my couch or I'm not traveling. I check my mails now and then so I'll be able to answer your questions (if I know the answers)
Quick tips:
Night life (dancing) - Taksim or Kuruçeşme/Ortaköy/Levent
Night life (Bars/pub) - Taksim or Kadıköy
Transportation : Buy İstanbul kart (you can use it for bus trips, metro, tramway, ferries and cheaper than buying tokens)
EATING/DRINKING:
What you should try:
Non-alcohol Drink:
a) Turkish coffee : it's usually served with a Lokum(Turkish delight) and a glass of water. We roast the coffee beans twice before cooking the coffee. That makes the coffee a bit stronger. I usually drink it "medium". You can order it "black", "medium" or "sugared".
b) Salep: it's a winter drink. If you like milk and cinnamon. You may try it.
c) Boza: I don't like it, its a malt drink but its popular.
d) Şalgam: Şalgam is often served as a complement to rakı, and is commonly used as a hangover curative. Consuming excess amounts may cause bloating. I love it, a lot. It's very common in Southern of Turkey.(Around Adana)
Alcohol:
a) Beer: EFES (Turkish beer)
b) Rakı: It's a strong drink. We usually have mezzes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meze) with it and şalgam.
Desert:
Lokum : buy at Hacıbekir ; there is one in Kadıköy which is nearer to Tuzla (http://www.hacibekir.com.tr/eng/iletisim.html)
Baklava: buy at Güllüoğlu ; but only in Karaköy, others are not as tasty. You have to go to Karaköy and taste it. :)
Profiteroles: at İnci or Lebon; both are in Taksim.
Mado: for the Turkish icecream or anywhere you can see an ice cream man wearing the traditional outfits. (It's pretty funny so prepare your camera)
Muhallebi (deserts with milk): Kazandibi and tavukgöğsü (you really should try at Saray Muhallebicisi - one of them are at Cadde where yr bus stop is.)
Can't really write all the food you must taste. We have a great cuisine here so please try to eat less and taste everything.
Historical places to go:
Egyptian Bazaar (Spices and souvenirs - but buying those in Taksim now is much cheaper, so the place is only good to take pictures at)
Grand Bazaar (Silver & Gold are)
Sultanahmet (Old city
Sainte Sophie (Ayasofya - Hagia Sophia) - Mosquized church / old church mosque
Fatih
The Maiden's tower
Must see;
The Bosphorus
Golden Horn bridge
Prince's islands (eat lunch at Barba in Burgaz island)
Princes Islands - but you will need 2 days to visit there. Otherwise it would be a burden.
