ABOUT ME
I'm a southern guy navigating my way through post-grad life. I'm finishing up a cross-country trip, during which I've worked at an outdoor camp in Colorado and taken an audio engineering class in Ohio. I'm an avid outdoorsman and audiophile.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe life is best lived via more experiences and fewer possessions. It's hard to make that work in the modern world, so i try to disconnect from the city every once in a while to reconnect to the outdoors.

Interests
My two passions are the outdoors and music.
I have spent the last several summers working at an outdoors summer camp in the Colorado Rockies. I love the feeling of living minimally- hiking and camping in the backcountry, surviving with only that which is in my backpack. I also love mountain biking, climbing (although I'm not very good at it), road biking, and triathlons.
I am a guitarist/harmonicist/background singer in a folk band from Athens, GA, called Ansley Rushing. In addition to playing music for fun, I am pursuing a career in audio engineering/music production. I get as much joy from a good concert as I do from hiking to the summit of a 14,000ft peak.

Music, Movies, and Books
In the last hour I've listened to Pat Metheny Group, The Avett Brothers, Andrew Bird, Muse, Greensky Bluegrass, Deerhunter, and Lera Lynn. My music tastes are always changing, but I respect and love it all. Almost all.
I often find that I have somehow missed out on seeing the classic movies that are like, a requirement of being a human. But despite this, I love good movies. My all-time favorite is The Sandlot.
Currently working my way through Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During one excursion at camp, the group I was leading woke up at 1am and hiked 2,000 vertical feet to the top of a mountain, where we watched the sun rise over Boulder, CO. It sounds cliche (and it is), but it was absolutely breathtaking. It was one of those perspective-giving moments I have heard so much about.
I have also reveled in the absolute genius of some of my favorite musicians. I specifically remember being in awe of one of my favorite jazz guitarists, Pat Metheny, as well as one of my favorite folk/Americana/indie artists, Andrew Bird, as well as one of my favorite high energy rock/alternative bands, Mute Math. The list goes on.
Teach, Learn, Share
I possess several skills essential to backpacking/primitive camping (i.e. how to set up a tarp, read a map/compass, light an outdoor stove). I also possess the skills necessary to record music- I aspire to be a recording studio owner.
I can cook/bake a few things well, but I'd love to expand my food repertoire.
