About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To cherish human life everywhere in the world
ABOUT ME
Graduated with a Master's Degree in social welfare policy at Lund University in Sweden, and now working in the San Francisco city government. Living in small towns after growing up in bustling San Francisco taught me how much more important it is to have fine company than having artificial things to entertain oneself. I play ultimate frisbee and have driven city buses, but my true passions are jazz music, baking, and volunteer work. Someday I hope to dedicate my life to those passions through bands and social work opportunities, but in the meantime I am keen on learning as much about life wherever YOU are from. I am addicted to learning, particularly about global issues and differing world perspectives, so perhaps you can help me?
What you will learn about me is that I prefer meaningful small-group interactions in which meaningful conversations and stories of each others lives are shared rather than massive informal settings. My strength is in listening over speaking, but that doesn't mean I don't talk; I just really want to hear what you have to say. I also don't prefer excessive smalltalk, which sometimes results in me diving into deeper topics. Given this, I hope you will find me a good person to spend a few days getting to know, and I fully intend to spend as much time with you as you are able to offer. I strive to maintain kindness and warmth in all my relationships, so you should always find me a gracious guest.
PHILOSOPHY
We only know for certain that life exists while we're living it, so waste no time! See the world before you die and allow your knowledge and worldviews to continually expand as you learn from your travels. Oh, and always keep an open mind.
Life's happy and sad days are as inevitable as the seasons, so take your darker times for granted and expect them to pass over. Humans are resilient in the face of adversity, and there is no reason to allow minor stumbles to damage ourselves more than they should.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As far as how I travel, befriending the locals and learning about their lives is the best way to experience a new country. I would rather spend hours in a cafe conversing with a local resident than hop on tour buses to see all the "sights". This is why Couchsurfing is the perfect system.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Anything truthful I put here will be upstaged by any other person's profile, so let's say I've base-jumped off cliffs on Jupiter's moons.
Teach, Learn, Share
Whenever you can, delay passing judgment of someone for as long as possible. I've found that traveling will challenge your preconceived notions of any people or place, so temper those expectations!
In the meantime, I'm eager to know how the government approaches social welfare in your country. Yes, it's a specific question but I have a fetish for that kind of thing.
