About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how to be happy by shedding the expectations of this crazy world and those of others.... and to taste every kind of cookie on this planet.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy being goofy and silly, and being goofy and silly with other people. I am a dork, enjoying school, reading, and many of those things people are only too happy to leave behind when they graduate.

I like to eat, especially sweets. To this end I am always baking cookies, cakes, cheesecakes and other goodies that I will always share with those around me.
Last year was the year I learned how to cook "real" food, not just sweets, but somewhere in April I lost my way. I have renewed my vow to learn how to cook real meal-meals and not just sweets. I''ve got taquitos and enchiladas down :D

I love to laugh, and if you hang out with me long enough you will notice I laugh to myself and at myself regularly.

I space out a lot, getting lost in my own thoughts.

I grew up in a small town in Central California, so I am familiar with the smell of cows and their shit (Central Cali is home to the majority of the world's dairy products and produce). After graduating high school I enrolled in my local community college, where I stayed for 5 years before transferring to UCLA. While at community college I majored in Theatre, and to satisfy my interest in theatre beyond school I was involved with a local children's theatre, The Enchanted Playhouse Theatre Company. This is probably where I developed my silly nature, working with children and other actors my age (all who refused to grow up in our own ways) on shows like "Sleeping Beauty," "The Little Mermaid," and other children's classics.

I transfered to UCLA in 2004, graduating in 2006. I double majored in History & Chicana/o Studies, working on a lot of projects on and off campus with any free time I had. I can confidently say that UCLA was the best experience in my life. I met some amazing people while there, people whom I remain friends with for the rest of my life.

After graduating I moved to San Diego with my brother. We live in Hillcrest, which is 2/3 blocks from the beautiful Balboa Park. I work at UCSD at the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, and with any free time I have I volunteer. Currently I am a mentor with a program called Hermanitas, organized by MANA de San Diego, a Latina business organization. My next major goal in life is to enroll in a law school and learn how race and the law intersect and interact with one another in determining the distribution of resources along racial lines.

I hope this synopsis is helpful. If you have any questions or are curious about anything, don't hesitate to ask, I am always happy to answer questions.

PHILOSOPHY

Currently under construction. I'll let you know when I am comfortable with something.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2007 I was invited to visit two friends in Ireland, and to help cut down on costs I heard (through a wonderful grapevine) of couchsurfing. From Ireland we hopped (via plane) on over to Amsterdam where we met some amazing people, and I hope people hit me up should they visit beautiful San Diego.

Interests

I am interested in candy and cookies of every kind imaginable. I love reading. Recently I started to get into animae and trying to watch all of the basics. I dig music of all sorts, and if something is playing that I can dance to, you can bet your pretty little bottom I'm going to be dancing to it. I rarely leave my apt without earrings on, and they are more often than not big and colorful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped out of an airplane, have visited Mexico (all over), Ireland, and El Salvador... more to come

Countless sunsets (behind mountain peeks, the desert, and into the ocean)... more to come...

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I share? My self, my joys, my pleasures and my pains, all in the form of brownies, chocolate chip cookies, or any other sweets. Seriously. I bake. I share what I bake, and while sharing my baked goods I find a conversation is started and before we know it we are talking about shared experiences, frustrations and joys.

I am always asking questions. Mind you roughly 65% of them are stupid, the others are quite profound at times. I have found that I gain a better idea of who I am, my values, morals and beliefs from conversing with people. Putting my thoughts and ideas in words, and having them interact with others is a process that fascinates me, and I enjoy greatly.
