About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Getting tired and happy while trekking in Italian mountains, and battling my MSc thesis directly afterwards! Not so much couchsurfing this year, though...
I usually travel with my boyfriend Mike: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/kjuik1
ABOUT ME
People around me often say I'm a bit quirky, and they're most probably right, whatever they mean by that.
As for my own opinion, I'm a rather cheerful and optimistic person with a thirst for life and a hunger for knowledge. Ever-balancing between the realm of technology and the domain of culture, I ended up studying computer science, while engaging in a passionate affair with foreign languages and humanities. And loving all things surreal - I'd be a perfect accomplice for your next crazy escapade. Do not fret, though - while one part of me is always ready to play around, the other is more inclined towards a cosy armchair, a cup of tea and a good book.
Advocate of a tree as the best place for a deep conversation.
PHILOSOPHY
I adhere to serendipity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I come to visit you as a surfer with an expansive smile that shows off all my teeth and then merriness ensues. Alternatively, I greet you with that grin in my house.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My experience is admittedly quite limited - I've been a guest once or twice - but I'm planning to seize the opportunities and actively gain some more during my trips! Also, along with my boyfriend I co-hosted people before.
On a different note, I moved house quite a few times in my life, living with various people, so you can expect from me an expertise in the highest standards of mutual coexistence ;)
Interests
Music (I, admittedly used to, play sax), good films, good books, good games of all kinds, cultures & languages, IT, hiking. I'm drawn to futuristic and surreal aesthetics and I specialise in what-ifs. Plus, I keep a hamster (these crazy critters...).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Started out as a lover of trip-hop and ambience, later moved on to appreciate post rock/folk vibes, nowadays I tend to oscillate within the rock-jazz spectrum with a hue of blues. Received my share of formal musical education, (used to) play sax. Basically, I try not to limit myself.
Here's a varied sample: Biosphere, Boards of Canada, Tom Waits, P.J. Harvey, Nick Cave, Portishead, Sigur Ros, Led Zeppelin, Nina Simone, Joanna Newsom, Sonic Youth, Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti, Fiona Apple, Prince, Cocorosie...
Films: Lynch, Jarmusch, Kubrick, Bergman, Herzog, Kitano, Tarantino, and more. I wouldn't miss a good anime series (GITS, Miyazaki). My personal favourite: Blade Runner.
Books: Hesse, Hrabal, Kafka, Kawabata, Lem, Vonnegut, others, including some fantasy and sci-fi here and there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... and seriously now, I happen to enjoy (bungee) jumping off relatively high places. Done 70 m and looking forward to a more extreme challenge.
Teach, Learn, Share
Feel free to use me as a resource when it comes to any of the languages that I speak. I'm especially keen on some language exchange. I might help with your computer, too. Or introduce you to blowing your lungs inside-out trying to squeeze your very first sound out of a saxophone.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good will, a handful of laughs, a riveting story, a heated debate, a board or card game (or a local multiplayer, perhaps?), a stroll around the town, some wacky pictures to aid our memories, a bowl of heart-warming soup, and a bottle of wine or a jug of beer - depending on preferences.
