PHILOSOPHY

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" Ralph Waldo Emerson

"When you are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, Faith is knowing that one of two things will happen; There will be something solid to stand on or you will immediately learn to fly." -An Unknown Author

"The "Wayfarer" does not concern himself or herself with things not understood. There is no distress from past mistakes nor an allowance to be overcome by a fear for the future. The Wayfarer is not afraid of going wrong or striving or of not being understood. The Wayfarer understands that we are here to experiment, to learn and be permanently available for life. The Wayfarer knows that life is a sacred path; that to live is to move forward instead of standing on the side watching; and that the ony way to move on is to throw oneself fully into each experientail sequence that awaits." -The thoughts of Chamalu

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an adventurous person who who likes to live life by having unique experiences. About three years ago, I figured it was about time to live life on my own terms - no more working for the machine or the pre-determined constructs society places on individuals - it was time to step outside of the box - I sold everything I owned and began a nomadic life. I spent 3-weeks on a bus with a fire spinning group and traveled throughout the US on the way to Burning Man. Then headed down to Peru to live and film the life of shaman. I have worked with two groups keepers of knowledge: The Q'eros, who live at 4,200 meters much as they did for the last 500-1,000 years are the direct descendants of the Inka, and I have also worked with a number of curandero's throughout the Peruvian Amazon. I am a believer that indigenous people's who live in harmony with nature have a valuable message - and I have been working on a documentary film to bring that message to the West. In addition to working on the film, I am also working to improve the lives of indigenous peoples. For example, in Q'eros, due to the harsh conditions of living at high altitudes the death rate amongst infants is very high and communication with the outside world is difficult - this year I worked with a non-profit to bring a radio tower to one of the communities so that they can have a direct link to medical care and other necessary services.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted couch surfers in Peru and Chicago and have stayed on couches in Phili and Washington, DC.
