ABOUT ME

I'm a Computer Science Professor (i.e. huge nerd), but also love everything outdoorsy and adventurous! I love to travel, both to see the people, cultures, and historical sites of other places, and to explore the wilderness on long backpacking expeditions where I don't see anyone at all for days. I have 2 rescued pit bulls that are my best friends and go on many of my adventures with me, I would take them everywhere if I could. I do also play a lot of video games and board games and card games and every other kind of game to keep up my nerd cred, and read a lot, and occasionally watch a tv show or movie, but I dislike most tv. I love talking to people and learning their stories, and I tend to make friends quickly, though few people become long-term friends.

Interests

Hmmm, kind of answered that above =) Let's see, what didn't I mention yet? Oh, I'm a pretty serious Ultimate Frisbee player, though I haven't played the last year due to injuries. There is almost nothing I won't find interesting at first, though very few things keep my interest for long; ultimate frisbee and hiking work because you are always doing them in new places with new people, and science/tech stuff because it's always changing with new discoveries and ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of my favorite adventures have been:

Surfing in Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Lived for a year in Valencia, Spain, and discovered mountain cycling, backpacking, wind-surfing, Las Fallas, Paella, and a thousand other amazing things while there.

Played in Ultimate Frisbee tournaments with teams from all over the world, including many countries in Western Europe, plus South Africa, Mexico, and no doubt others I am forgetting right now.

Backpacking on Isle Royale, MI, USA

Everything in Alaska, from kayaking in the glaciers to bussing through Denali National Park
