Overview
About Me
My husband and I live in the Lowry Hill East neighborhood in Minneapolis, close to Loring Park. I'm from the US and he is from Costa Rica, so we have a bilingual household (although he and I communicate primarily in Spanish). I'm a super language nerd and love to learn new languages and about other cultures. We have a dog and a cat!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We love to travel and hope to be heading out on some adventures this year or next, so we thought it would be cool to host others who are travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Just about anything. I like a lot of music in Spanish, hip hop, bluegrass, R&B, pop, mariachi, etc. Natalia LaFourcade, Janet Jackson, Pink, Erykah Badu, Yuri, La Sonora Dinamita, Adele, Alicia Villarreal, etc.
Movies: The Color Purple, Easy A, Beaches, Ma Vie en Rose, Sommer Storm, Fried Green Tomatoes, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sweet Home Alabama, Dead Poets' Society.
Books: This might be tough; I read a lot (40 books last year!). Here are some recent favorites: Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, Lie With Me by Philippe Besson ("Arrête avec tes mensonges" if you want to read it in the original French), The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo, Angry Queer Somali Boy by Mohamed Abdulkarim Ali, Flor Negra: El címbalo de oro por Ramón Valdés, and probably my favorite: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: We can definitely help you practice your Spanish!
Learn: I'm always learning languages and trying to learn some ukulele.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, a glass of wine or cocktails, something good to eat, book recommendations, language practice, travel ideas, or maybe a song on the uke.
