About Me

Background:

Hi!I was born and raised in New York City and my background is Bangladeshi. My parents came to NYC when they were 24 years old and raised me in Queens & Manhattan.

Growing up in the heart of New York City, I've always been exposed to a lot of different cultures and ways of living from a very young age. Queens, New York is supposedly the most diverse part of the world and Manhattan.... well, we all know Manhattan.

Right now, I live in Brooklyn with my boyfriend and am a full time content creator. I’ve been making videos on social media about food for over 4 years and I recently made the decision to leave my corporate job to do this full time. . Show me your favorite restaurant, let’s make a video together :) my Instagram is @thebrunchguy__

Travel / Couchsurfing experience:

I began traveling at 14 when I traveled alone to Bangladesh to learn more about my roots. Since then, I have visited 42 counties, and I have a goal of hitting 50 before I turn 30 years old. A lot of my travels have been solo because i love meeting new people, and I think it’s easier to do that when alone. I’ve made many friendships through Couchsurfing, some that I would even invite to my wedding!

Hope we can meet for a drink and chat more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whenever my friends ask me, "how do you travel so much?", I typically answer, "Well, first you have to find the purpose of your travels".

We all have different reasons why we travel but understanding the purpose, help you get the best experience out of each time you do it.

For me, the purpose of my travels has been to meet people from around the world. Quite honestly, I don't care too much about tourist attractions, but rather meeting locals and exchanging stories about our lives and cultures. Now, that's the purpose of my travels.

So for the longest time, I had no idea that Couchsurfing existed. I had an emergency situation in Amsterdam where I missed my flight back to NYC on Easter weekend and luckily found a host to let me crash. He explained to me what Couchsurfing is all about, and I immediately felt connected to the community.

Since then, I've couchsurfed in Madrid and Krakow, and frequently used the "Hangouts" feature to meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into all types of music, but I focus on the Top 40 because I like to analyze the statistics behind what gets a song to become #1 in the world. It's interesting stuff! I randomly spit out random music facts that people enjoy quite a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped off a cliff in Split, Croatia into the ocean, even though I don't know how to swim. Turns out, I can when I need to save my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think what's really cool about Couchsurfing is that you get to meet people from all different backgrounds with all different stories. I think I have a lot of fun and interesting stories on how growing up in New York City is and how growing up in a Bangldeshi family is.

I can also offer a friend in NYC if you ever come :)
