About Me

Interestingly, the term "travel" (term first used in 14th century according to Wikipedia) may originate from the Old French word travail, which means 'work'. Yet this is work that every human being understands as core of their being and all great ones have spoken of it and gone through unimaginable pains to experience it. Without it we are simply ignorant and puerile.

Personally I like to get out most weekends / evenings for anything interesting. I also like to find new and interesting places to hike / explore / eat / drink / anything fun. I really enjoy making friends and have found experiencing local and other adventures are a lot more fun with other travelers. Plus travelers tend to have a very different mindset which I really have a fun time with and it also allows me to contribute good will and one day travel with connections I make to their home cities and experience it like a local which is how I like it!

For those traveling to San Diego - there are several spots here for hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, biking, beach activities (hang gliding, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, surfing), snow sports, cultural events etc. There are probably gazillion things I still have to find out for myself.
I'm a big beach volleyball enthusiast so you are very likely to experience a taste of san diego beach life. Me and my friends are all very outgoing and I also know surfers who can teach you or take you out to more fun on the water activities. We like to drive out to other fun activities on the weekends also and can probably organize trips for you to come with us as well.

I'm in a studio on back of a house overlooking the canyon with a large yard. You can enjoy lots of privacy just sun bathing in the yard or lots of nearby beaches. You may have to crash on the couch or the extra queen mattress. There are simple kitchen facilities like fridge, microwave, toaster oven and a full bathroom.

For those staying at my place here's some idea on what to expect in terms of things to do and my availability -
I'm in 92117 zip code and walking distance to lots of shopping and public transportation as well. I'm usually working from home on weekdays and can drop you off to activities nearby if I am busy and can't come along myself. The train (coaster, AMTRAK) system has service to most areas in San Diego. Schedule for the train is at http://www.gonctd.com/coaster/. You can get to old town, downtown, beaches in Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside and further on the train system. Please google for buses etc. There is uber/lyft also available at decent prices.

Besides above activities, there are some lakes (man made) within 30-60 minute driving distance with various boating options as well. There is lots of good eating in Hillcrest, La Jolla area. You can't go wrong with Tacos in San Diego anywhere.
Anza-Borrego desert nearby is a few hours drive way and has some interesting spots which can be reached within an hour or two hike. There is Mount Laguna, Palomar Mountain, Cuyamaca state park, Mount Woodson, Idyllwild within an hour drive as well with various hiking trails. Tons of other interesting nature and other activities all year round.

If you read my profile in entirety and then contact me and have at least one reference or friend with references or have a FB account or some other way of letting me know who you are, you will definitely get a response.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"It is better to travel well than arrive" - Buddha
What better way to travel than belong to a community of travelers who believe in and are living the adventure. I want to hear your stories, interesting places you've been to, things you've learnt and hopefully learn to live and travel better myself in the process. I will probably not be able to see all places, eat all foods and experience all things that are in my life time so I want to experience as much as I can through your experiences.
