About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To spread goodness and love through the world, and to protect Earth's wildlife, wild places and peoples.

ABOUT ME

I love traveling, wildlife, the tropics, hula-hooping, scuba diving, soccer, and living simply. I am passionate about wildlife conservation and international work, and am driven a responsibility to protect our Earth and its wild beauty. I've lived and volunteered in Peru, Bolivia, Kenya and Spain and love them all. I am constantly inspired and illuminated by the kindness, laughter, generosity, and passion of others, and believe so strongly in the power of travel to open hearts and minds and create a better world.

PHILOSOPHY

My goal is to spread goodness in the world. Live life passionately and without regrets. Smile at everyone and everything. Try new things. Be optimistic and life will work out, even if things look dark at the moment. Be thankful for the gift of life. Leave this Earth a better place than it was when you entered it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch surfing is an incredible way to see the world--through the eyes of others. It's a way to learn that there is goodness and generosity everywhere in the world. Due to my current wanderings, I have no couch to offer, but I look forward to the day when I can give back in the name of all of the amazing people who have hosted me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met wonderful, wonderful people through Couch Surfing whose generosity, kindness, and humor have made life a more fun and fabulous place! I am constantly encouraging others to experience Couch Surfing and love to spread the good word!

Interests

I love the outdoors! I absolutely love being in a wild place, as far away from civilization that I can get. I have been fortunate to work in some beautiful places, including the Kenyan savannah (studying giraffes), old growth forests of the Pacific Northwest of the USA (studying flying squirrels), the Peruvian Amazon (studying scarlet macaws)...the list goes on. I am so grateful for the beauty on this Earth and hope to spread the love through bringing others to experience nature. My life goal is to protect the beauty and wildness of our Earth. My second love is traveling. The desire to experience new places and faces is a defining drive in my life. The more I travel, the more vast the world becomes, and I know less and more, all at once. I love dancing! Hula-hooping! Birding! Yoga! Scuba diving! Climbing trees! Music! Hiking! And I love to learn new things about our world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Nature and wildlife documentaries are my all-time favorites. I love reading. My favorite authors are Paulo Coehlo, Gabriel Garcia-Marquez, William Styron, and William Faulkner. I enjoy music of all kinds, but my favorites are danceable beats of dubstep, bluegrass, hip hop, and indie. I generally like the local music of wherever I go, and I love the creativity of live music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stayed a night on a secluded island off the coast of Belize with a boat of refugees. Got stuck in 2 different rivers on a Bolivian bus and built a ramp and a dam to get us out!Sat in a tree canopy, amongst a troop of red howler monkeys.

During a night drive in Kenya, I watched a leopard take down an antelope and subsequently fend off his kill from a pack of hyenas.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share all sorts of fun knowledge and factoids about animals and wildlife conservation. I can teach you how to hula-hoop like a pro, and turn a ball of yarn into a hat or scarf!
