About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Let it be.

ABOUT ME

Random self-descriptors: energetic, easily amused, social, easy-going, adventurous.

In a nutshell: Love meeting new people, learning new things, seeing the world from different perspectives. Good conversation is always enjoyed, as is European chocolate!

Just finished my Masters in Environmental Studies (researched local food systems - YUM!) and am now working in the area of tourism research (not so YUM!).

PHILOSOPHY

Follow your bliss (Joseph Campbell).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my couchsurfing to date has been with friends who just happen to have been living in places I was passing through on my train trip around Europe. I've only had the most amazing experiences with couchsurfing and can't wait to test out some new (or old) couches! I've also done a lot of HelpExchange -where you work a few hours in exchange for bed and meals. I definitely spent a lot of my time working in the kitchen to make scrumptious meals for my hosts!

I guess I've actually been a couch hoster more often than a couchsurfer. Mainly when living in Edinburgh and mainly Canucks who we knew or were friends of a friend.

Interests

Travelling, milking cows, writing, dancing in cages, reading, thinking crazy thoughts, watching movies, cooking things, hanging out with monkeys, cycling, asking for spare change, changing spares, being active, actively being.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lots of amazing things done and seen to date. What sparked the travel bug in me, however, was a cross country train trip - from the East Coast of Canada to the West Coast of Canada. 18 years old, 5 days and 5 nights living and sleeping in coach. It was the most amazing trip! Canada's topography is breath-taking and the train is definitely the way to do Canada.

Teach, Learn, Share

When entering a country where you receive a tourist visa at point of entry it is important to have at least one, preferably, more, of the following: a) a return or onward ticket out of the country b) a bank statement or some sort of indication that you are not two dollars away from sleeping on the sidewalk c) a legitimate reason for visiting the country d) some tissues in case the immigration officials decide to deny you entry anyways and you get teary eyed.
