Overview
About Me
I grew up equally in California and Ohio, U.S. and still have family and friends in both states. I caught the travel bug when I was young, and never see myself kickin' it. I've traveled through Europe several times with my family and by myself; I've seen 49/50 U.S. states; I studied abroad in England; and last year I volunteered for World Teach in the Marshall Islands, where I lived with a host family and taught at an elementary school in the neighboring village. I currently teach at a private school in the Marshallese capitol, Majuro. My students ask me why I don't have a husband or kids, and my answer is always "because, why would I give up the 105 children I already have?!" I also coach Majuro's first junior football team; some day we hope to have a league, and actually play other teams!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like I said, I caught the travel bug! I'm always meeting people who are coming in to Majuro for a few nights at a time, and I would love the ability to safely offer them a place to stay, and show them what there is to see around Majuro. And when I travel on school holidays, I think it would be great to meet the locals and have a chance to see the world from the insider's perspective!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: depends on the activity... resting mode, the Parenthood soundtrack (i.e. easy listening, kind of indie rock); working out with the headphones in, 90s pop (i.e. MC Hammer, Chumbawumba, etc); working out with my students, their awful new pop that's actually starting to grow on me...
Movies/TV: I'm big on documentaries. I'm a history/anthropology kind of person, so anything in that genre. I also like sitcoms, like Raising Hope or How I Met Your Mother - they're comforting, like mashed potatoes for my brain. Action movies like the Bourne, Die Hard, or Lethal Weapon series
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Volunteering for World Teach has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had so far. I lived with a host family, taught grades 3-8 English, and got to travel in the Pacific islands a little bit.
Teach, Learn, Share
Not sure what's supposed to go here... But teach, learn, share seems to be what I do every day.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm very tidy and unobtrusive. I can share my stories, and I'll be interested to hear my hosts' stories.
