Hello! My name is Shane, and I was born and raised in the Front Range of the Rockies around Denver, Colorado. I center my life around music and the experience of travel and seeing this world. I have a beautiful girlfriend named Ciera Nieto, and a heavy metal band called Wayfarer who tours around the United States and hopefully other countries soon! I am as easygoing and adaptive as they come, and I love meeting and talking to people of any origin or walk of life, and learning the world from their point of view. I am a friendly and sarcastic guy who would love to see the whole world and meet some unique people along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am travelling across Europe, and would like to get the perspective of people who live in different places I come across. I would love to meet some interesting people and spend some time in their homes and cities along the way. My girlfriend and her friend, who are also Couchsurfers, will be accompanying me on this trip and we would all like to experience what life is really life in these new places, and make some real friendships along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is my great love. I immerse myself in it constantly. Heavy metal would make up a good chunk of what I listen to, with some favorites being Primordial, Opeth, Neurosis, Deathspell Omega among many others. My band Wayfarer is an atmospheric metal band on Prosthetic Records that focuses on big beautiful soundscapes inspired by the Rocky Mountains of my home.
Aside from that though, I have an undying love for the Beatles, and a lot of Jazz and some Hip Hop and instrumental music such as post rock and film scores.

I like to read about history, and history of music in the contemporary world. I also am a fan of books by Cormac McCarthy and HP Lovecraft.

As far as film, I enjoy all sort of stuff from Horror to Comedies, some favorites being The Good The Bad and the Ugly and any other Sergio Leone Western, Machete, Trainspotting, Videodrome, and of course the Lord of The Rings. I am also into some TV shows like Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and our hometown heroes' South Park.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is tour around North America with my band. I will be completing my sixth tour this year.

Not only is it a dream come true to play the music that is dear to me to new faces every night, but it has made me love seeing the world, meeting so many great people along the way and having experiences I would never otherwise have in a mundane working scenario.

This is why I want to travel. I want to see new places, do new and crazy things, meet and stay with incredible people along the way. That is why I want to Couch Surf.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach an endless knowledge of music and touring in the US heavy metal circuit, and the things to do and see around the US. I have schooling in graphic design and have many other random skills and bits of knowledge to impart.

I want to learn whatever people have to give. I would love to learn customs of life in new places, and just what the perspective of life is like in this country. I want to learn about you and what you see in the world.

I would love to share any of my experience or knowledge, as well as my time with people and the experiences we can enjoy together. I would love to see your world!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As above, I have many experiences that are pretty unique to share and all the knowledge therein. I would love to partake in any activites you engage in and see the world through your eyes.

Also, through my travels and because of my upbringing, I know the importance of manners, and if anyone is letting me stay anywhere, I am more than happy to help with any chores or work around the house that I can, or at the very least pick up after myself, be the most respectful and leave any place without a trace.
