About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do something worth remembering.

ABOUT ME

Well I grew up living my whole life in the same house back in the mountains of Alaska. Although I love my home and have priceless memories from there, I'm a firm believer in personal growth through new experience, or something like that, and that likes to manifest itself in traveling all over. I love music (especially Jazz and Jam bands) and play a few instruments. I love the outdoors and sharing a good beer or a cup of coffee and trying to hash out what it all means. hmmm, as I go back and read that I realize it sounds a lot more serious than I meant it. I really enjoy just kicking back and meeting new people and doing something fun.I spent the past years hitching around South America, Canada and the US, everywhere from Alaska to Ushuaia. I stopped moving a few years ago to be a ski bum in Jackson Hole, WY. Then I moved to China then Thailand, Nepal, then France, I traveled around the states for a minute then worked on the North Slope of Alaska. For the past few years I have been working as a cook in Antarctica, juxtaposed with finishing my degree in Ashland, Oregon and I just moved back from living and studying French in Grenoble, France.

In my travels I've realized that instead of being a tourist all the time by far the most memorable and influential experiences I've had were just being invited into a home to share a meal or a cup of tea and to listen to someone's experiences which, the farther I get from home, seem to be staunchly differing from my own. So, in short, I'm trying to further that.I'm laid back, fun and engaging, and I try to keep tidy and to be not to imposing. I'm up for most anything. Don't I sound interesting?! Let me sleep at your house today!!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and love, dance naked in the rain sounds great and all, but at the moment it seems pretty stereotypical so lets try something else like...

buy a homeless guy a cup of joe, talk with your parents about God and the meaning of life, act impulsively, turn off the tv and read a book, sneak into countries and steal discarded food off old plates to sustain yourself, ask an intimidatingly attractive girl out for a sandwich when your completely sober and have no reason to believe she'll say yes, enjoy your limited time on this rock, but also put an appropriate amount of thought into why exactly we might be here...

and also love things and breath and take your cloths off and all that nonsense.

Almost all of the most interesting, coolest and most hospitable people I've ever met have been through this site.

Interests

I love learning, geeking out about music, cooking, writing, reading, hiking, camping, climbing, playing sports, traveling, building things, just hanging out with friends or family or some random person I just met, attempting to talk to girls far prettier than myself...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I hiked a railroad in the jungle in Peru for 8 hours in the middle of the night and snuck into Macchu Picchu when it had been closed for a month. A friend and I hid until the workers went to lunch, then walked around the ruins completely alone for two hours before getting caught by the guards on the way out and pretending to not speak Spanish so they would get fed up with us and send us away.

It was really cool, but it sounds uncharacteristically egocentric when I write it out like that, so anyways...
