About Me

**BEFORE YOU MAKE A REQUEST: I will not accept requests from people who do not have any references or couchsurfing friends. I also prefer your account to be verified. I've been getting SO many requests lately, and it makes my response rate low, but it's because so many don't meet the requirements I personally need to have met in order to feel comfortable hosting.**

Anyhoo, I am an outdoor fantatic...I adore backpacking, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing. I also am deeply in love with theatre, poetry, reading, creative writing, animals, pottery, and woodworking.

Currently, I am working on re-creating roots in the DC area, (born and raised here.) I moved around the country for nearly a decade after high school--New Orleans, Austin, Los Angeles, were some of the places I called home. I am a high school teacher, an education & accessibility fellow at a local theatre company, a theatre teaching artist, an actress, and a tutor. Maybe I do a little too much.

"Get busy living or get busy dying." Erm, that basically sums it up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have hosted quite a lot already, and will continue to happily host! I've surfed a bit myself, and have done a few rideshares as well.

I was first introduced to couchsurfing when a friend took me to several couchsurfing parties in Austin, TX, which was AWESOME! I hosted quite a bit whilst living in New Orleans...absolutely no complaints. I look forward to hosting people here in Arlington. By the way, I am a mere skip and a jump from Georgetown (DC)--about a mile walk, easy peasy!

Interests

I love so many things! Too many things. My passions are part of why I need to just explore the world and figure out what it is I need to do.

I love the outdoors and coffee. Cannot get enough of either. (And drinking coffee outside is great!) Or you know...anywhere...on a train...in a box...with a fox. :-D

I enjoy stimulating conversations, discussing everything, from the big bang theory and the bubble universe theory to our dream states and phytoplankton. Yes, perhaps I am a bit of a nerd. I love to read and am a big fan of dystopian literature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ugh, I hate these questions because I could just go on forever and ever. Uh-oh...

I will mention just a few of my favorite books...wayyy too many, but some include: Slaughterhouse Five, Cat's Cradle, (Love Vonnegut), Watership Down, Redwall, Leaves of Grass, (anything Walt Whitman, really..."Song of Myself" is basically my life's philosphy), 1984, The Old Man and the Sea, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson and the Brontes...

Currently reading: The final graphic novel of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series

Movies: Shawshank Redemption has to be my favorite movie of all time. Oh, and Wizard of Oz!

Music: I was raised by two hippies, basically, so...60's and 70's music. Showtunes are also good!

Food: I will eat anything, quite honestly...I love going out for a bite to eat!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've sailed as part of a crew on a tall ship in the Gulf of Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you American Sign Language! I also can recite random poetry and Shakespeare. :-D

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and usually a bottle of wine (FYI: I LOVE beer, and will happily provide that as well, but alas, I have developed an allergy to gluten.) *Edited: Um, you know what? I've been drinking beer anyway. Totally worth it.
