About Me

I'm a counselor and single mom of almost grown children. I work hard and play as often as I can. I have an independent streak that keeps me motivated and makes me try out new and interesting things, especially when I feel like I'm falling into a routine. I let my intuition lead the way and when that falls apart I improvise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

With my kids grown and school over for myself, I finally have some freedom in my life to go about some of the things I've dreamed of for years. I don't like the idea of staying in hotels and walking around like a tourist. I can't learn about culture and people that way. As a counselor, it is the people and the way of life that matter to me the most. I want to meet people and learn and explore.

Interests

I am sitting in a self exportation stage and so my interests have been changing recently.

  • meditation
  • movies
  • music
  • live music
  • hiking
  • psychology
  • road trips
  • reading books
  • heavy metal
  • mindfulness
  • local food
  • counseling
  • local history
  • hanging out with friends
  • ingress
  • classic rock

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a variety of things, but Pink Floyd had remained my all time favorite since I was 6. Add in some Godsmack, Eagles, Flogging Molly, and Fall Out Boy and you get an idea of my playlist. I am open to hearing more and learning from others about music.
Reading and movies seem to focus around fantasy and sci-fi. Tad Williams, Terry Goodkind for example for reading. Movies I took a break from, so you'll have to bring me up to speed most likely.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One ofy best memories from childhood is sitting on the beach in Okinawa on the 4th of July. My military father and friends were celebrant I was enjoying the full moon reflected in the calm ocean before me.
