Overview
About Me
I'm a doctor , I was mainly working in Emergency Medicine - until 2016 when I changed my job to work as a ship''s doctor in the cruise line industry.
I'm crazy about travelling - in between travelling as much as possible and occasionally working - I do energetic things like cycling and triathlons.
Other than that, I think my country of SA is pretty cool and love to have people visiting - I'm always keen to show people around.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've spent the last few years in a small town in SA where I'm pretty sure no one would even visit so now that I'm back in a city (Johannesburg) and a space where I can host - I can finally do it properly.
When I'm not in JHB then I'm usually travelling and looking for a couch to sleep on.
Interests
Mmm.. the world!!
Or more specifically..
Adventures - anywhere.. adrenaline junkie, possibly.
Books - anything, everything - i love to read (Kindle is the BEST invention ever)!
Sports - big thing in my life especially triathlon and cycling. Watching the Tour de France live is on my bucket list for sure.
People - i love people; not enough people in the world smile and talk to each other. The random conversations you randomly have with the person on the bus next to you - you never know what story that have to share with you.
Charity work - doing work outside of my actual job is I guess a hobby of mine - I enjoy the change from the mundane clinical work I often sink into. I plan to do some work while i'm travelling, always looking for an interesting cause to volunteer or work for.

Music, Movies, and Books
So many to choose from..
Mainly an electronic music fan - favourite DJ ever is Tiesto!! Generally listen to anything that sounds good - if i like it, i listen to it.
Movies - Ive always said my favourite is "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days" - why? I don't know.. i just love it. Totally lame :P
Books - so many!! Huge fan of biographies/autobiographies and fact books i guess. I love to learn and reading does that for me. I'll wake up in the morning thinking "Rwanda - mmm lets read a book about Rwanda" or something else equally as random.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Riding the length of the inner city Berlin Wall alone on a hired bicycle from south to north stopping at all the memorials/sites and art along the way - one of my favourite days of my Europe trip in 2010. I even have a tattoo of some of the graffiti i saw that day.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach me Spanish.. or any other language you want to.
Learn swear words in Afrikaans - or just learn what an amazing place South Africa is and how much it has to offer.
Share your story with me.. i think everyone has a story to tell and I would love to hear yours.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A interesting and vibrant city - to see Johannesburg and South Africa through a South African's eyes will hopefully dismiss all the negative publicity my country gains in the media.
A perspective on JHB from someone (who to be honest dislikes living in a city a lot) but I've found spaces and places which make JHB special, unique and fascinating - and I would love to share these.
Plus my sense of humour and sparkling personality come free with the couch :)
