About Me
I'm solo parenting my kid while working as a Sign Language Interpreter. I have a wanderlust spirit, and am trying to balance the demands and responsibilities of life, without sacrificing my time with my kid in the process. I’ve been solo traveling with my daughter continually since she was 4 (but adventuring with her since birth!).
My daughter and I are both vegan. I’m a hippie at heart, pretty unconventional in a lot of ways.
It has always been a dream of mine to full-time travel and Unschcool/Roadschool my daughter, while we slow travel and immerse ourselves in various places. We have a huge heart for true animal sanctuaries, and hope to be able to spend extended amounts of time doing some type of work-trade for organizations we align with. My attempts at transitioning to this type of life have taken their toll on me. But I’m trying to still figure it all out logistically so that eventually we can live a life that matches our goals and desires!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I originally signed up for couch surfing so that, while traveling, I could meet as many people as possible while also helping to keep accommodation costs low. But I hadn’t really used the app. Shortly after creating my original profile here, mine and my daughter’s living situation changed; We were displaced and depended on actual couchsurfing for 2 months (amongst friends and friends-of-friends/without this app) before finally finding a place to call home. It was a very humbling experience, and a huge reason why I want to have my home open to travelers in need.
I have very modest accommodations to offer; a decent-sized couch, and a living room floor in my apartment where I can also set up a queen air mattress. I have extra bedding, but I don’t have extra pillows.
***For safety reasons, I will not accept any guests with relatively new accounts, or without any references.***
My goals with traveling are always to connect with locals and learn as much about a place and culture and people as we possibly can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I took my daughter to Sri Lanka for 32 days summer 2016. It was my first huge international traveling adventure and undertaking. I fell in love with the rich culture, history, and unbelievable beauty of the countryside. I want to see the beauty that this world, and various cultures, have hidden beyond my reach. And I want to find a way to continue raising my daughter with a global perspective.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love creative energy in the kitchen! I was a raw food chef for a short period of time, but other than that, I enjoy creating delicious and healthy vegan foods, and would be honored to cook for and with you!!
I'm a decent conversationalist with quite a few diverse life experiences including geographical (growing up in Southern California, living in Texas twice, living in a mountain valley of Colorado, traveling to Mexico and Sri Lanka, road-tripping to Canada, hiking and camping in a variety of locations), work-related (having worked in over 20 various industries), and philosophical/idealogical (growing up with one set of ideals and mindset, and coming to challenge everything I ever believed resulting in an entirely different point of view).
