About Me

ABOUT ME

Writer, photographer, coffee lover, bibliophile, cyclist. Residing in Brooklyn, NY, USA via Austin, TX. I enjoy avoiding tourist traps, talking with people of all backgrounds and engaging with different cultures wherever I go. I am very open minded and love being around people who know the city better than any travel guide.

PHILOSOPHY

"A spirit in my feet said 'Go,' and I went."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used couchsurfing and other similar volunteering websites before. I love being able to form a real connection with people and understanding a place through their eyes.

Interests

Interested in everything pretty much! I love creative pursuits - photography, design, typography, architecture, music. I absolutely love love music, and find this to be one of the best ways to see a city! I can't get enough of the outdoors, especially mountainous areas. Hiking, cycling or just a picnic outside are favorite activities of mine. Love beer, want to learn more about wine, couldn't be more obsessed with coffee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The summer of 2011, I biked from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Biking across two countries taught my patience and how to see landscapes, cities and cultures differently.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH - I work as a barista in Brooklyn, and love to talk about coffee and food cultures. I wholly enjoy engaging in conversation ranging from politics to social justice issues. I am a home baker and cook, and love to share recipes and their stories with others. Having studied photography and media, I can also teach a little bit about photography or photoshop!

LEARN - I am beyond interested in food culture around the world. I want to know all there is to know about foods from different regions and where they derived from. I am interested in anything creative, outdoors, or relating to the humanities.

SHARE - I can share good conversation, a good meal, maybe trade books and music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, a home cooked meal, and maybe some music exchange!
