About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My main objective in life nowadays is to avoid winter; I cut out of work very early so I could escape for several months to warmer locales. Just want to experience lots of new, off-the-beaten-track places, learn more languages and meet some fun, open-minded people.
ABOUT ME
I'm a bit of a loner, never married or had kids, any of that traditional stuff....thought I'd leave that to the grown-ups.
So I'm used to enjoying my own company, and travelling solo, but I really like meeting new people, as long as there's some decent conversation, edgy humour, maybe some good wine?
PHILOSOPHY
It’s better to ask forgiveness than permission.
GO FOR IT! What’s the worst that can happen? ;-)
I believe that life should be full of learning...and lots of play; never lose your curiosity and sense of adventure.
Don't live too much in the future...I've seen how quickly and unexpectedly life can take a U-turn; gotta be happy today.
"Happiness resides not in possessions....happiness dwells in the soul." - Democritus.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly hosted at my place, but I've stayed with and met CS people in my travels, which I love!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had the chance to host a lot of fun, interesting travelers so far.
I also like meeting up with people for dinners, events, etc., if they're just looking to meet some locals.
Interests
I love hiking and scrambling in the mountains in summer, playing lots of tennis, practising yoga, latin dancing, cycling and rollerblading.
Aside from fitness activities I also love travel (obviously), practising Spanish whenever I can, enjoying interesting food and good wine, singing, and playing nerdy wordgames.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some favorite movies:
Boogie Nights, Goodfellas, The Station Agent, Harold and Maude, High Fidelity, Dazed and Confused, Juno, Lars and the Real Girl, Good Luck to you, Leo Grande, Pulp Fiction, About Time.
Books: anything by Ken Follett
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've experienced some unbelievable hiking in the Rocky Mountains, stared in disbelief at the strobing Northern Lights, kayaked the Broken Islands, explored some bat-filled caves in Nicaragua, witnessed the birth of my niece....too many amazing things to pick just one!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love acting as a bit of a tour guide, showing off my beautiful part of the world. So when someone stays with me I'm eager to point out all the best things to do, and introduce them to people and/or resources that help make the west coast experience unforgettable!
I'm learning Spanish language, so I'd jump at the chance to practise with a guest.
My work in rehabilitation involved issues of accessibility for disabled individuals, so I'm happy to provide information on accessible transportation, accommodations, activities, etc.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook, and I miss preparing my own healthy meals when travelling. So I'd happily whip up a nice meal and pour some wine, then sit back and enjoy some lively conversation with my host (s)!
