About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make myself a kick ass human being
ABOUT ME
I am a passionate person who is constantly educating and re-educating myself about the world and the workings therein. I love witty people and sitting around with other people telling stories and laughing. I like to go on spontaneous trips and learn from my travels and the people I meet- whether it is a trip to the grocery store or across the Atlantic. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with this life.
PHILOSOPHY
Hmmm... I'll get back to you very soon- I'm going to let this one marinate
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just signed up for couch surfers. I have checked it out numerous times after hearing about it from my amazing college roommate and found that so many people on here are also amazing. I finally signed up and would love to host and surf.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted a couple of times and had fabulous experiences. I can't wait to surf!
Interests
I really like talking with people and learning about their ideas and worldviews. I love reading and writing and one of these days I will become inspired/disciplined enough to really begin writing. I love the outdoors, i.e. hiking, camping. I really like to cook and think I'm quite good at it. I write poetry and I am working on short stories. Music is also a huge part of my life- listening to music, playing music, being around others who are playing music energizes me. Twin with my love of music is my love of dance- since I was a little girl I did ballet, jazz, tap and as I have grown I have a new love of hip-hop and African dance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time that comes to mind was when I was studying abroad in Ghana and we took a trip to the coast. The country was doing rolling blackouts where ten square kilometers would have no electricity for 30-40 minutes at a specific time. During dinner we were near the ocean and all the lights went out for miles all around. We walked to the beach and the stars and moon were so bright and so numerous that it looked like a landscape from the moon. I realized I had never really seen the stars before.
I went on a cross country road trip in Costa Rica and my Spanish is not the best and as we were asking for directions we took a wrong turn and ended up on this dirt road and old railroad bridge driving next to cows and people who must have thought we were crazy. After we finally made our way back to the main road we pulled into the first restaurant/bar we came across. As we walked up music was playing, animal heads were abundant and there were two people who owned the restaurant just kickin it. I tried very hard to use my Spanish as they spoke no English and they were amazingly hospitable. They showed us their garden and a really large jungle dwelling rodent they kept in a cage and were really proud of and I really enjoyed seeing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paca - They showed us their house- made us dinner of squash and milk and smashed plantains (they added a ketchup smiley face)and they wouldn't accept any money. Just a great random experience - one that makes you feel like you aren't a stranger no matter where you go in the world.
