About Me

WELCOME TO OUR HOLISTIC HIPPIE HOUSEHOLD :D
LGBT Friendly 🏳️‍🌈 Smoker/420 friendly, but plz smoke in the garden.

PHILOSOPHY - MY CORE VALUES

1 - HEALTH 🌾:
I have always prioritized mental health over physical health, and now that I finally found a balanced way of living, I would love to focus on physical health as well. I am currently in the worst physical state of my life, and aspire to regain physical strength and freedom by traveling and going on adventures.
Student of Life + Emotional Intelligence, Nature Worshipper 🗺️ Cyclist, Hiker, Yoga, Mediation, Morning Person. We are preparing to travel the world as soon as that side hustle of mine starts taking off ;)

2 - FREEDOM 🤸:
I find freedom in my philosophy: as a Scientific Pantheist, I believe that Nature is Divine. I am one with the Universe, and the Universe is with me ;) My goal is to disconnect from unhealthy cultural norms, and live FREE, like the Stoics aspired, in accordance with nature.

3 - CREATIVITY 🎼:
I believe that happiness comes from problem-solving, so if you want to be happy, DO NOT wish for problems to stop. Everything has a solution, as long as you're willing to find it out. So. Wish for better problems.

4 - KNOWLEDGE 🌎:
Reading, researching, listening and writing are how I spend my day! My favourite non-fictions are Psychology, Philosophy, History and honestly so much more - our world is so mysteriously beautiful! If you try to see and comprehend these majestic networks, you'll feel way more grateful and humble than focusing on what's wrong with the world. I 'collect' knowledge to help others, to write articles and essays, to value the places I visit better and, ultimately, to become an improved understanding version of myself.

5 - AUTHENTICITY 🌈:
Every day, I become a bit closer to my true self and who I want to be; Curious and a Child at Heart 💕 Still learning how to have peace with myself and overwrite old nasty narratives. I would strongly encourage you to also feel free to be your authentic self in our house - we're a bit goofy and dance and sing a lot, so if you prefer something formal/normal better check into an hotel xD haha

Disclaimer + Boundary alert!
Me wanting to share my house, does not mean I want to share my bedroom.

***DON’T HOST ME IF YOU WANT TO HOOKUP!***
***THIS IS NOT TINDER***
Also, if you make a move on me in my own house, the nearest hostel is a 3km walk. Good luck :) #DutchDirectness

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are definitely here for the cultural exchange! I strongly believe that diversity should be celebrated, cherished and experienced! Above all, it feels like time expands when you make new adventures and memories. So far it's been widening our worldview and perspective, and we feel very blessed to have made friends and unforgetfull memories 💓

Interests

We're a small family of two, prefering big questions and deep conversations over small talk and chit-chat. Though easy going, please feel free to share your view of life, stories and philosophy, because often, a different point of view is the only thing you needed to make progress on your path of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
My favourite band ever is Linkin Park. Yes. Still. Muse on a close 2nd! Favourite genre is rock.
Most Played Music: Currently big on Spice Girls, Avril Lavigne, and some 90's + feministic power. Usual genres though are Pop Punk, Latin-American [Buena Vista Social Club, Los Bunkers!!], a bit of French and German music, loads of alternative, funk, indie [Parcels, Tamino], glamrock and, bit of metal, reggae, folk, classical, pop and edm. Also occasionally: 30's - 60's, and instrumental/soundtracks are just a pleasure. I love music a lot. If you have cool suggestions, you will make me a very happy woman :D

Movies:
Since I found out about the existence of Explainers on YouTube, I do not watch TV or Netflix anymore, and spend most screentime browsing all sorts of non-fiction. Documentaries are also very loved. If you know good ones, please share :D But here is what I liked best when I still watched fiction:

Series: Sex and the City, Big Bang Theory, Friends, Gilmore Girls, Malcolm in the Middle,
Movies: DISNEYS! LOVE the Star Wars Saga, and movies with a deep message, like Into The Wild, Joker, Avatar, La Belle Verte, V For Vendetta, Her, I Am Sam, Fight Club, Truman Show, Matrix

Books:
Oh my. If I will start, I will ramble for hours. Come check my library if you're also a proud bookwurm. And bring a USB stick if you want to copy ebooks ^^

Teach, Learn, Share

- I can (obviously) answer a lot of questions about Dutch Country Culture
(Because believe me, it's slightly different in Holland. If you didn't know yet, North and South Holland are just two provinces of the Netherlands and have their own culture)
- In our home you can wash your clothing, charge all your electricals, use a laptop if needed (also login to Wi-Fi), or just spend time chillin' and recharge yourself if you need some time to reboot from traveling.
- I can share my place and my time, and if the time is available for both of us we can either do a few of these fun things:

OPTIONS FOR SPENDING TIME IN GIETHOORN
* Try out a Dutch DIY Foodtour
This can be with things like drop (liqourice), broodje hagelslag (bread with chocolat sprinkles), Tompouchen (cream cakes), Stroopwafels (Cookies), and ofcourse, bitterballen (croquet balls), the famous raw herring (fish) aaaand Gouda cheese
* If you're with your own car, we can drive around the area. I know a lot about this land, culture and history and will gladly volunteer to be your private tour guide :D This also works renting a boat of course.
* Kayak around the lakes (renting a kayak for a whole day is € 31,50)
I know loads of pretty routes around here and the Nature here is stunning.
* Cycle through the National Parks (I might have an extra beat-up bike you can use if you want to avoid some spending)
* I also know very pretty trails to walk that aren't that touristy (just let me know how many kilometers you can handle) ..
* If you're into musea, I have two options to recommend,
1) (De Oude Aarde) is great for someone who is into geology, and
2) (Museum Giethoorn) is great for someone who appreciates local art, culture and history (Here you can fit wooden shoes and take a picture).
They're both under € 10,- entry fee and are small and easy to combine on the same day. You can use our bike to get there.
* I can point you in the right direction of a wild-camping spot if you'd rather have a quiet night in nature and just want to hop by for sharing a meal or using the shower.
* Play UNO, Rummikub or the card game 'Cards Against Humanity' or any other boardgame you fancy
* Ofcourse, for around 7 - 10 euro's per person, we, or just you, which ever you prefer, can take the famous (warning: touristy) boat tour over the lake, which makes the one-hour round over Bovenwiede, the lake that was man-made by digging up peet.

Do me a favour though; if you want to do any of these things, let me know up front. I for instance don't always have a DIY food tour in the house 😜

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Laughter, knowledge, music, an open mind, a good conversation, respect, curiousity and hopefully a lot of positive memories.
- We're clean and love to help people. I have high organizing skills, know a lot about business finance and am very practical when it comes to work around the house.
(I even learned wallpapering, welding, painting, carpenting and gardening)
- I must admit that I hate cooking 🤭 But I do know a few good recipes, some of them my grandpa's greatest. If/When you dare to be my ginny pigs, I will gladly feed you 😅
- Just ask me, and I'm sure I can help
