ABOUT ME

My name is Shantel and I love adventures! Especially the ones that aren't planned! I like to try new things, meet new people and make lasting friendships.

My life involves a giant spectrum of fun: Hiking, dancing, studying, running, sports, reading, music(LIVE), learning to cook, going to the park as much as possible..

I am teaching English in Japan through the JET Program currently.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm surfin the waves of the world right now, and cannot wait to host when I get back to Santa Barbara.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed four times now! Yeeee

Once in Bologna when I first arrived. I was so fortunate to meet someone who I now consider a great friend. He hosted me while I searched for my apartment.

I also surfed in Spain, France and Morocco!

I have hosted one girl.. amazing girl! Which was really by chance, and now we are great friends and we even study in the same city!! She was the little angel that ended up on my door step :)

The whole concept of couchsurfing and the community is something so beautiful and so real. It really brings out a different side of humanity that is so powerful and so.. just absolutely fantastic.

I love being outside.. Parks are definitely my favorite place to read/eat/study/dance/play... the idea of sharing community spaces is something I cherish so much!

I love Volleyball, basketball, and softball.

I have just started rock climbing and am looking forward to really getting into it.

I love working with kids and volunteer for a couple different organizations as well as baby-sit. They keep me young and wild and crazy. They are also some of the most honest people I have ever met and it is so refreshing to hear what their opinions are on things.

**Also... PICTURES. I love taking pictures!! I almost always have my waterproof/crushproof/freezeproof camera on me at all times.
