PHILOSOPHY

You can't take it with you when you die. I'd rather die in debt with a lifetime of great memories! To the best of my knowledge, I'll only live one life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When traveling, to meet locals who know the area I'm visiting, when hosting to share my town with visitors. To meet people in general ... travelers always have interesting tales.

Interests

Travel, culture, nature, archaeology, history, beer, gardening, kitties, probably have at least a tiny interest in just about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

great movies: Monty Python's Holy Grail, Princess Bride, Star Wars (classic IV-VI), Wall-E, lots more. For TV shows: must watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report each day; big fan of Star Trek NG and the current BBC Dr. Who, several British comedies.
great music: Gogol Bordello, March 4th Marching Band, Bruce Springsteen; there's so much great music, I love all genres except heavy metal (except classic AC/DC) and smooth jazz. Like to dance to trance techno. I co-host a Celtic music radio show on Boulder public radio.
great books: Shackleton's Forgotten Men, Guests of the Sheik, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, Babylon's Ark, Heart of Darkness. Like classic literature and nonfiction history and true life adventure. Good science fiction is fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do often find myself "lecturing" people on the importance of making choices in your life that you will be satisfied with in that final moment of your life. To think about your life and live it from the perspective of retrospection. When you look back, what do you want to see? Practical skills, I could teach you how to ride a motorcycle. :-) Or indoor gardening. What I like to learn is what I stated above in people I enjoy, and I hope my experiences are different from other peoples' so they can learn from me. Beer.... would be happy to provide beer sampling tasting, talk about it. :-)
