CURRENT MISSION

I have always liked both teaching and languages in general, and English in particular. Since I have become elligible for retirement, I have decided to spend the rest of my life traveling and living in foreign countries.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Jaltipan de Morelos, Veracruz, Mexico, on December 23rd, 1958. I went to elementary school and part of middle school there. Then I moved to Santiago Tuxtla, Veracruz, where I finished middle school. I returned to Jaltipan to attend high school in Acayucan, Veracruz.

After high school, I moved to Xalapa where I went to college. In 1981, six months before I got my BA in English, I got a job as an English-as-a-foreign-language teacher at Universidad Veracruzana Language Center in Xalapa. I have worked there ever since.

PHILOSOPHY

I have always thought that life is worthless if we do nothing so others can have what we love and enjoy; if it is not shared, happiness cannot be complete.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live alone in a small house in a quiet neigborhood in Xalapa. It has two rooms: my own room, and another private room I can offer surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have received people from the United States, Germany, France, Ukraine, and other parts of Mexico.

兴趣

I am interested in language learning and teaching. Since I have been an online English teacher for a few years now, I am also interested in virtual teaching environment design and development.

音乐、电影和书籍

I love music. However, I cannot play any musical instruments. I can sing a little, though. I was a member of an independent choir for more than ten years. I like all kinds of music as long as they are well-performed.

I also enjoy reading both fiction and scientific papers.

For better or for worse (although I like thinking it has been for the better), I have taught English to thousands of English learners.

I have always liked learning languages. I consider myself good at both teaching and English. I will be quite happy if I could learn other languages from couch surfers and teach English and Spanish to them.
