About Me

I have a passion for finding new places, new people, and new experiences. I am a green machine who lives and breathes sustainability. I am outspoken, love my friends and family deeply, and am very loyal.

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." -Angelou

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has completely changed how I see traveling and meet new people. Staying in a hostel is all fine and dandy, but surfing means you get the real deal where ever you are.

My first true couchsurfing experience was through Southern Netherlands for Carnaval and while I was initially stunned by the insanity of Carnaval, I was even more astounded by the generosity of my hosts. I was traveling alone, yet I was never alone. I got the true Dutch experience.

Interests

Some of my favorite things include biking, traveling, vegetables, word games, and podcasts. I'm kind of crafty and love a good DIY project.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: When I pick up a book and get into it, I love it. Ask me what I'm reading now!

Movies: A comedy here, documentary there, I'm game for most things.

Shows: The West Wing, Great British Bake Off, 30 Rock, Insecure, Mad Men, Parks and Recreation, Broad City, Stranger Things, SNL, Mindy Project, so on.

Music: Lately, Spotify has been telling me what I'm in the mood for... But here's some goodies...Tune Yards, Born Ruffians, Passion Pit, Super Mash Bros, Phoenix, Darwin Deez, The Givers, Modest Mouse, Girl Talk, Ben Folds, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, Regina Spektor, MGMT, Andrew Bird, The Shins... you catch my drift, but I'm always down to investigate new bands at gig or something.

Food: Everything besides asparagus, gefilte fish, lemon bars, and meat (although I crave nothing more than a big hamburger... I just won't do it yet).

Podcasts: This American Life, RadioLab, Planet Money, Stuff You Should Know, The Moth, Serial, Invisibilia, Another Round

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took the train across the US stopping in 8 cities over 2 weeks ending up in San Francisco where I spent the an incredible summer interning and living in a vegan/vegetarian co-op at UC Berkeley. Ended the summer by skydiving in central California.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can't make earrings out of just about anything. Bottle caps, soda tabs, hardware, sample spoons.... give me your trash and I will make something out it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I collect and share postcards. I am also a pretty avid baker
