About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling to Mexico City from May 9-18

ABOUT ME

I am a travelling gypsy tethered to a full-time job. I was lucky enough to travel a fair bit as a child but often found myself in Israel (and the surrounding Middle East) because of familial obligations.

I've been making up for lost time the last few years visiting Portugal (Porto, Lisbon, Sintra, Caiscais), Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Ibiza, Formentera), Italy(Bologna, Ferrara, Florence, Sienna, Milan, Venice, Rome, Parma, Cinque Terre), Puerto Rico (San Juan & Vieques), Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Turkey (Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Turquoise coast and Dalyan). Next stop is Dublin.

Professionally, I've been an interactive producer for 10 plus years. I enjoy my work and currently work for a satellite radio company. I get to listen to music all day, every day which is never a bad thing.

PHILOSOPHY

Live, Learn, See, Do, Participate!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a tiny studio so it is too awkward for me to host at my place but am more than happy to show CSers around the East Village, my neighborhood of 10 years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS by some travelers in Florence back in 2007. Since then I have been lucky enough to meet some terrific people from all over the world. It makes the experience of visiting a new place far more authentic and I also love showing people around my city. After living in NY for 12 years, it makes me appreciate the city with new eyes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Open to most things - from a great foreign film to the newest animation.
Music: I work for a satellite radio company with over 130 channels so very hard to pick just a few likes. Lots of Alternative for my daily commute as well as at work listening, Pop, Dance, R&B (for the gym) Classic Rock, Acoustic, BritPop and Klezmer among others.
Books: When I can't travel, books are my salvation. I am a book worm with varied tastes. I love fiction generally, historical fiction, and mysteries but am always eager for a good suggestion. For every serious work I like to throw in some silly stuff. Current selections on my nightstand include "Into the Wild", "The Some books I'd gladly recommend to a friend: Erik Larsen's "Devil In the White City", Jeffrey Eugenide's "Middlesex", Steinbeck's "The Short Reign of Pippin IV" and "Travels With Charley", Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", Elisabeth Kostova's "The Historian", Raymond Carver's short stories and Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" among others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is very hard to pick just one and with each trip I add to the list. But my visit to Wadi Rum and Petra was a real standout.
