About Me

I was born in China, raised in Canada (so yes, I know my manners!), and currently live in New York. In between I also took a year to live in Spain, so yes! hopefully I can be considered someone internationally attuned.

I love travelling, meeting new people and loving this great big world of ours. Life is what you make of it and each day, I'm grateful for all the little bits and pieces of kindness and love that I receive from friends, family and strangers. Throughout my life of moving from country to country, exchanges abroad, and international trips, I've come to know that there is hardly a barrier between friend and stranger. The Greeks call this "agape".

Whimsical, empathetic, positive, free-spirited, I like serendipitous finds and believe in goodness. #PLURforLife

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard of friends who have loved the site and also read horror stories from the web about incidences. With anything on the internet, it is a hit and miss. But for the most part, with all of my encounters, people have been trustworthy and most people in the world are good. So yes, it's a leap of faith!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I recently came back from EDC Las Vegas and am pumped for Tomorrowland in Belgium in July. Other than EDM though, I also love the other end of the spectrum - classical music because I had been playing piano since I was about 5.
Movies: thrillers, dramas, comedy, Pixar - Something recently I saw that I loved was Finding Dory - they say sequels always have a tough time beating the original but this one just about did it!
Books: Pop non fiction on psychology/behavioral economics also Science Fiction. Dave Eggers's The Circle is a recent read and I loved the vision other than the chick flick moments.
Some titles on my Audible right now:
Hooked - Nir Eyal
Zero to One - Peter Thiel
Big Magic - Elizabeth Gilbert
So Good They Can't Ignore You - Cal Newport
Stumbling on Happiness - Daniel Gilbert
Creativity, Inc - Ed Catmull
The Hard Thing about Hard Things - Ben Horowitz

I also like podcasts - Tim Ferriss and Freakonomics are my favorite ones that I've discovered
