About Me

I'm fairly laid back as a person. I'm not bothered by much, and need little to make me happy. However, I'm extremely argumentative and cynical (some call that being 'passionate'). So I'm the ideal person to be around when you feel like getting into a debate about, well, anything.

Basically, I love conversation. I like people who are able to talk effortlessly and have the ability to engage me. Though this doesn't happen all that often, I love it when I can spend an entire night talking to a person, only to see the sun come up and realize that our conversation that started with us discussing some piece of serious current affairs has somehow ended up with us talking about how weird Japanese videos on youtube are.

I hate it when people are constantly stuck to their phones. It's one thing to be using it to call, email, use gmaps etc. It's another thing entirely to be playing candy crush on it or surfing FB while you're surrounded by interesting people and conversation. That annoys me to no end.

I have varied interests and don't think of myself as someone who can be categorized. I enjoy learning about fashion as much as science, I love both rom-coms and intense pychological dramas, I love classic Rock as well as cheesy Pop, I can go drinking to the shabbiest little bar as well as the most sophesticated hot-spot around and fit equally comfortably into both settings. You get the gist..

But I do prefer the shabby little bars. I prefer sitting at tables, alcohol and conversation over blaring music and massive crowds with not one person you could talk to over the music

FOR SURFERS :
IMPORTANT (Should you fit any of the descriptions below, please DO NOT send me a request. For even if I should agree to host you, upon learning that you indeed do fit one of these descriptions, I might ask you to leave my house) :

- Religious bigots (bigots of any kind actually) NOT WELCOME! i.e. Being religious is okay. Shoving your beliefs down my throat, isn't.

- People anti-feminism/ sexists/misogynists/misandrists/ homophobes/slut-shamers NOT WELCOME!

- (I cannot emphasize this point enough) I only wish to host travelers who travel with the eagerness and intention to learn and absorb other cultures and understand diversity. People who visit India with a bunch of bullshit preconceived bigoted notions/superiority complexes ingrained in them by the media and their upbringing are NOT WELCOME. If you are constantly skeptical about a place, you will make hosting you a fairly unpleasant experience for anyone. If I have never been in a road, car or train accident in 30 years of living here and never contracted a viral disease of any sort (no, despite what most outsiders believe, our systems are still not immune to malaria and dengue), then the chances of it happening to you in a month or two of you being here are very very minuscule. As minuscule as you dying in a plane crash on the way here. If you are a constantly paranoid person, I highly recommend that you DO NOT VISIT THIS COUNTRY!

- Women please note : Mumbai, for the most part, is extremely safe and liberal, and cases of rape/murder/thefts over here are approximately as low or high as they are in any major city around the world. Being generally cautious and aware is one thing, being constantly terrified without any reason is another. And it is EXTREMELY annoying to a host when you are the latter.

FOR HOSTS :
It'd be easy to read at least a bit into the person that I am by the points listed above. Though, only the first couple of points would apply to me as a surfer as well. The others are very specific to me as a host.

Like I've stated above, I really am not bothered by much. However, there are certain kinds of minds that I prefer staying away from. If you find yourself to fit any of those descriptions, kindly do reject my request.

Also, for anyone hosting with the intention to hook-up (male or female), I'm asexual. So don't even bother.

As for references,
For surfers : I leave one once I receive one, but please don't feel obliged to leave me one, nor expect me to write one for you immediately. I prefer writing nice, long, detailed references and try not to make them generic.. and so I take my time. And since CS is much more to me than the references, you leaving me one would make me very happy, but at no point would I like to receive a reference from you, with your writing it just for the sake of it.

For hosts : Besides genuinely wanting to write a reference for you, should you host me, I'd also just feel downright obliged to leave you one ASAP. But do give me a couple of days, just in case you don't get one immediately, so that I don't feel pressured and end up writing something generic that would do no justice to display my gratitude and the experience.
