About Me

Hi! I'm 22, living in Adelaide, South Australia, originally from the countryside. I'm in my third year of studying medicine and work weekends as a cook. I love travel, but due to constraints of study struggle to find the time - however I've managed to get to travel a fair amount considering!

I find meeting new people fascinating, learning about other peoples way of living. However greater than this is probably my love of eating...perhaps the thing I miss most when traveling is a well stocked pantry and cheese. I do drink decaf though so I hope that's not a problem.

Would love to share a beer (as dark and chocolatey as possible) or a mountain hike.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel like the aspect of travel I enjoy most is meeting new people, and the places themselves come secondary to this. In the past I've experienced both hostel type backpacking, as well as couchsurfing type experiences. Regrettably, hostels usually feel like being at home due to the flood of Australians everywhere (everywhere, even the most remote unheard-of places), and I travel to meet other people and cultures. I'm after an insight into the life of a local, Couchsurfing is the best way to do that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to anything really, but really like Bon Iver, Passenger and the 1975, alt-J and Kodaline.

I don't read as much as I'd like to, and have fallen into the habit of buying self-improvement books that I never read, but figure that just adding to the bookshelf will help in someway. I enjoy Bryce Courtenay, Malcolm Gladwell.

Anything alternative or unpredictable for cinema.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been traveling to a remote Indigenous community in the central Australian desert for the past 3 years for short placements. Its been shocking, sad and confronting but I love it. After experiencing the Nepalese health system a few years ago, you'd be forgiven for thinking there was a developing country hidden within the centre of Australia. Its provided some unique insight.

At 16 I hiked the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea - 9 days in the jungle, 165km, hardest thing I've ever done. Never been that fit again since....

Teach, Learn, Share

Lets have a beer and share stories. Of particular mention:
- I'll tell you about my accidental engagement to a 62-year-old in Nepal at age 19.
- I'll teach you about Australia's troubled past, and the state its left our Indigenous population in
- I'll make homemade mayonnaise - you'll be eating it from the jar it's so good, we can welcome in CVD together.
- I'll show you how to vapourise your alcohol for a calorie free drunkedness

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you some salmon with my homemade mayonnaise. Share my dry sense of humour. Hear me complain about Australians being everywhere.
