About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet new people, experience new cultures, and become an overall more aware person
ABOUT ME
I am 24 year old graduate student who loves to travel. I grew up in a small town in usptate New York, where travel to the next town is considered adventurous. However, even with this isolation, I have been to 30 countries and I look forward to putting that number above 40 by 2017! When I travel, I try to experience the local culture as much as I can (one of the reasons I am here haha) and I am always up for the interesting experience! If I surf on your couch, I would love learn from you about how other locals live and have fun (food, drink, and sites all included). Although I am a big fan of siteseeing, I also love traveling off the beaten path.
PHILOSOPHY
I can't say that I have a personal philosophy, but I strive to treat everyone I meet with respect and learn from them. You learn more by listening than talking in my opinion.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have just joined so I am still gaining an idea for how to figure out where my place will be in the whole CS project. However, I am poised to move to New York City soon and can't wait to actually start hosting my own surfers!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In the summer of 2013, I traveled across 11 countries (Germany to Kazakhstan) and spent most of my trip Couchsurfing with a variety of amazing hosts. I also met many other surfers at the CS events in Vienna, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Almaty. I hope to build upon these experiences with my future trips!

Music- I am very open to all types of music, but I really like 40s, 80s, and international genres. My favorite artist is Billy Joel.
Books- As a geography major, I love atlases and books with statistics and data about interesting places; Traveling books (Lonley Planet especially), or any book about the places I will travel to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2012 I was invited to attend a North Korean military parade. It was for the 100th aniversary of Kim il Sung's birth. I am one of the few American tourists that was able to see this event.

I can teach and share my knowledge of Geography, Geopolitics (Korea and Far East Asia), English (conversational), and German. However, I hope to learn just as much from my future hosts!
