Life is short, so we're making the most of what we have been given.

ABOUT ME

We are newly married (May 30, 2009) and on a RTW honeymoon. We worked for 2 years saving every penny, so that we could quit our perfectly good jobs and take the opportunity of a life time before we settle down to have kids and a mortgage. Both of us are 29 years old and love to experience new things/cultures. Shawn has been a surfer most of his life and while I love the ocean, I'm much more comfortable soaking up the sun on the beach. We are a pretty low key couple, definitely not night owls or big partiers, but we do love a beer (or 3) at the end of the day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is our first time using couch surfing, but have heard so many wonderful stories from friends who have used it, both to surf and host. What a great way to meet like minded travelers and make some new friends along our journey.

兴趣

Brooke: Nature, people watching, cooking, gardening, reading, listening to rootsy live music, being in the sunshine, having a glass of wine or a good beer at the end of the day.

Shawn: Surfing, photography, surfing, scuba diving, art, mountain biking, nature walks, camping....surfing.

Music: (where to start...) Bob Marley, Ben Harper, G Love, John Butler, Slighty Stoopid, Paul Simon (& Garfunkel), the Beatles (of course), Brett Dennen, James Taylor....a lot of folk, reggae and classic rock.

Movies: anything funny....Old School, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, Waynes World, Elf.

Books: too many to list. I (Brooke) love to read anything.

Driving through Kruger National Park was definitely a highlight, as was the cage diving with Great Whites. Getting to surf epic J-Bay was a dream come true for Shawn. Riding camels past the Great Pyramids of Giza and experiencing Ramadan in the home of a wonderful Muslim family.
