About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Adventure this grand romance called life with no training wheels. Discover, explore...kiss the sky.
ABOUT ME
2022
Jan/Feb: Just booked my flight to Colombia for 2 months. Can't wait to experience that great country and its people. I'm still working on the plan.
2020
Feb/Mar Thailand, The Philippines, Sydney, and backpacking in New Zealand. Got back home just as COVID was ramping up.
2019
Paris in November to see my nephew's band, Goodbye June. Also a week in Barcelona.
I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. The more different they are from me the better. When I see the world through their eyes, I grow and learn. I'm super easygoing, an old-school gentleman, a good conversationalist, and always positive vibes.
IG: mshawn.baker is open if you want to do a little light stalking.
PHILOSOPHY
Life should be approached as the greatest of all experiments and the most passionate of love affairs.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the couch surfing concept because travelers should help travelers. Friends have asked me why I'm ok with strangers staying in my home. I tell them my mom was always eager to help out of town travelers and I want to keep that value and kindness alive.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None yet.
Interests
Sailing, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, traveling to new places, meeting lovely souls....and good wine/food/conversation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My very first backpacking trip was Yosemite. The most intense beauty I've ever seen. It felt like it permeated every part of my being. Somehow it changed me, but I don't have words worthy of it.
2021 pandemic volunteer work: The state of Michigan asked me to volunteer as the lead to create a distribution network of volunteer organizations and volunteer drivers to receive and deliver donated PPE supplies to our 150 homeless shelters during the supply shortage. We delivered over 500,000 masks and other supplies.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Fun stories of adventures past, a fun and outgoing drinking buddy, hiking/exploring companion, etc. Or I can be a quiet, unobtrusive visitor if you prefer. I just appreciate you opening your home to me.
Countries I’ve Visited
