Hello People,
I am Shawna, currently based in Maastricht in the Netherlands. I am studying liberals arts and sciences, focusing on gender studies and philosophy. I question academia a lot, often I ask my self if it has any value for revolutionary processes or rather serves as an ongoing capitalisation of knowledge in order to keep the elite in their powerful position. I do a lot of art and try to combine creativity with activism as much as I can. I go to protest a lot and I want to get more involved into communities and collectives. I live in a community in which we try to break with the idea of property. But I want to travel around, get inspired, challenge my own ideas and perceptions and engage with people.

I have travelled quite a bit in my life, I love to observe, I love to express.
Besides that, I surf a lot and often wander along the European coast to search for waves. I am into cooking and wine and I really enjoy music. I am always down for long walks in nature, adventures and any kind of outside activities. I camp a lot. I feel home by the sea and in the forest.

I'm a painter and I'm also interested in photography and making videos.
One of my biggest passion beside surfing and painting is music, I'm learning how to play the guitar (still beginner :D)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have used Couchsurfing quite a bit while I was traveling. Now, that I have a base for a little while, I hope to give something back to people and open my doors. I try to cut money out of my life as much as I can and I love to get inspired by people.
