Overview
About Me
Born and raised in South Africa, I grew up in Cape Town but my true home is Stellenbosch among the winelands. I studied Engineering in Stellenbosch for so long it almost became a profession.
The next chapter of my life involved staring a business with family members, which was an interesting experience. With a "make a plan" attitude I've decided this is a good time of my life to start traveling. First stop, Sydney

Music, Movies, and Books
Red hot chilli peppers, Foo fighters, Queens of the stone age...
If you know these bands, we can be friends :P
My music taste is quite open, Jazz, Rock, Ska, EDM almost anything. While I respect classical music, I don't often get enjoyment from it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm, vanity hat on...
I headed up a Student Community at Stellenbosch University for a year and grew the following from a handful to over 500. See, professional student.
The best thing I've probably done though, is get in my bakkie one day and just drove up the coast. 10000km later I had some of the best stories of my life. The edge of my comfort zone is where I want to live.

The key to a good coffee
For good flavour, aim for a medium roast bean and only grind the beans just before you make your coffee. The reason is that the heat from the water is the last "cooking" process and is often what will make a coffee bitter. A dark roast will often ruin the underlying flavours.
Your water should be just below boiling, so in the case of a filter coffee. Leave your kettle for a few minutes after its boiled before you pour it over the grinds.
Lastly, sugar is for instant coffee because the dehydration makes it bitter. Fresh coffee only needs warm milk because at 70°C the milk breaks down and release a type of sugar.
