ABOUT ME

Hello, hello
Im Shayna, some call me Shay, Shay-d, lil' Shayna etc.. depending on your sense of humour I enjoy nicknames.
I love exploring the world, understanding new cultures, learnings different languages and connecting with other like-minded indivduals. I truly enjoy the simple things in life and appreciate it when others do as well. I mostly enjoy understanding the art, history, kitchen and politics of a culture. When I travel, I constantly have my camera and pen glued to me to document my opinions. Im opened to all different types of people, backgrounds and interests as long as they are willing to teach me something interesting about their culture.

I enjoy all genres of music but especially enjoy motown, jazz or anything with a funky beat. I appreciate music for the pure sense of 'music' not for concept of only generating a strong income. I love musicians and find it inspiring when their passion is shown.

Basically, im care-free, easy going and love talking with anyone, as long as you have something positive or an interesting story to tell. Even if you don't, I bet I will find humour in it anyways.

At this moment I am living in Montreal, studying film.

I write a design/travel/style/culinary blog that was inspired by the street that I lived on in Rome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Luckily I grew up with hippy parents who allow me to explore anything my little heart desires.

I grew up in a small town in Canada where it was acceptable to buy a kegger and go cow tipping.

Spent a week analyzing art the Biennale in Venezia.

Left all reality to learn a new language, Italiano!

I spent two weeks camping in Quebec with 12 other friends...just surviving on the land...well we cheated and brought froot loops

I have witnessed the depths of the holocaust in Aushwitz-Birkenau,and Triblinka etc..I also visited these locations with six other holocaust surivors, telling their stories as we walked in the foot steps of their past.

I ate the best fire roasted pizza on top of a mountain in Israel. Afterwards, I picked a pomegranate off of the tree I sat under..and ate it. Pure bliss.

I went to Amsterdam for Queen's Day weekend. Enough said.

I spent an afternoon eating Tiramisu in the Tuscan countryside talking fashion with Valentino's Top Model.

I lived in a palace in the center of Rome for nine months, teaching children English.

I hitch-hiked through the Tuscan countryside in search of interesting dishes and castles.

I spent a week on a road trip driving in the south of Italy. Mission: stopping where ever we thought was beautiful.

I made jam with a duchess of Italy. Wild blackberry Jam ;)

I lived in a Tuscan castle for a week. Sole purpose- to paint.

I spent a week venturing around the Italian alps with a mission of find cheese, polenta and pastries. Yum

Spent all of my savings to see the David Bowie Exhibition at the V&A!
