About Me

Yo! My name is Shaye, I'm a very passionate and nerdy psychology student at the U of M. I love many things, some of them being: bread, Harry Potter, parties with balloons, traveling, flowers, animals (but not bugs), painting, crafts, learning how to fix things that break, most white wines and some red wines, hearing funny stories, making references and seeing if they're detected, imgur, pictures of puppies, videos of cats, pictures of George Washington with strange text overlain on them, making and giving gifts, my cat Taffy, my friends and family, people who are a good thing for the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

lajsdf;alsd this is difficult

Harry Potter is the love of my life (not the person, the series). F. Scott Fitzgerald's words are some of my favorites. Augusten Burroughs has given me a great perspective on life. Douglas Adams is insane and hilarious (and insanely hilarious). It's hard to list my favorite books because there are so many I haven't read yet.

Movies? aaaaah same problem as books. But I love me some Disney movies, Harry Potter (again), Studio Ghibli films, Secondhand Lions, Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, movies with magic in them, almost anything that takes place in England (seriously. Sometimes even crappy made-for-TV movies. I just watch them and I'm like "this whole story is terrible but look how GREEN the grass is!" It's silly.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My senior year of high school, I won a scholarship for writing an essay about the Holocaust. I flew to Florida and spent a week with some of the most incredible people in the world. I met a holocaust survivor who walked from Russia to France, I met a woman who was dying when the liberation came to Auschwitz and was saved by her sister's cleverness, I met a man who was only a boy when he was taken to Auschwitz and hid in the storage sheds and split his food with his sister because he was too young to work so they didn't feed him. It was the most beautiful week of my life. I learned so much and I felt so lucky to hear their stories, but the most wonderful thing of all was just how happy they were. They were all so incredibly happy.

I suppose that doesn't technically count as me doing anything amazing. But honestly, the most amazing things have less to do with yourself and have more to do with everyone else.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love stories. I love telling them, I love hearing them. Everyone has a great story, everyone has morals to pass on. I keep a bunch of random facts in my head for no particular reason, as well. I give good advice, though I am unashamedly honest. I can recommend books, songs, movies, television shows. Once I'm comfortable, I can make anyone laugh. I can even write poems and stories for you if you'd like. I'm willing to learn anything, teach anything, share anything.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Oh I have a funny personality and I'll at least make you laugh once. I like to cook. I could make you some killer enchiladas (or my Mom's chicken dumpling soup) if I have access to a decent grocery store. I love me some knowledge and have quite a bit to share. I have a Netflix account, a pretty decent mind, and a love for many shows and books. I will actually sit down with you and watch the pilot of a show you love and think I should watch. I've got some crazy ideas and stories and perspectives, I'd love to hear yours.
