Overview
About Me
Peripatetic phd student that enjoys meeting other curious and playful people.
Last minute requests very welcome (I'm not a big planner so if you request too far in advance I probably won't accept). If you do send me a request, please put a little effort into saying why you want to stay with me so I know you read my profile. Copying and pasting generic stuff gives me the impression you’re thinking of this as a free hostel rather than a cultural exchange.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's a neat way to meet and connect with like minded people around the world. Since I most often travel alone, it is fun to stay with locals and make friends along the way.
Interests
Going for spontaneous adventures, learning new things, and having philosophical discussions or debates. I am especially interested in consciousness, perception, free will, morality, the relationship between humans and the more-than-human world, authenticity, and different conceptions of the good life.

Music, Movies, and Books
I appreciate almost all genres of music, but some off the top of my head are Russian Circles, First Aid Kit, Floating Points, Still Corners, and Snoh Aalegra.
I can't even begin to list the books and films I like. I read ~one book a week (literary fiction and nonfiction).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travel:
Hitchhiked around Namibia by myself without proper provisions and got stuck in the desert. Underplaying the severity of the situation, I maintained my equanimity and continued to read Dostoevsky's The Idiot (no the irony isn't lost on me) until some superannuated Dutch women picked me up. We went camping, and I impetuously decided to climb up the world’s tallest sand dune in the middle of the day. Half way up I thought I would die of heat stroke, but I persevered and was rewarded with a stunning vista and an apple from the only other (foolish) person up there. Hooray for ill-thought-out adventures working out in the end!
Study:
earned three masters degrees: a MA in Applied Ethics, a MSc in Brain and Cognition, a MSc in Biodiversity (specialising in evolutionary biology)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to surf at a solid medium good level and what happens to the brain on psychedelics.
I'm keen to learn how to play piano and practical skills such as carpentry, horticulture, and which mushrooms are safe to forage.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My incredibly charming personality and decent story telling abilities
