About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See France by Bicycle!
ABOUT ME
I'm a very mild-mannered person who can be both timid and outgoing. I'm easy to get along with, partially because I have a natural tendency to empathize, making me a bit of a people-pleaser, and partially because it's easy for me to find things that I like in people: the little idiosyncrasies that make everyone interesting. I'm pretty scrupulous when it comes to my responsibilities, maybe even mildly neurotic, but when it comes to leisure, I'm laid back and don't take things too seriously.
PHILOSOPHY
Coming from someone who studied philosophy, I can say that at this time I have none!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing, hosting (well trying), and attending CS events in Angoulême.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Biked through Normandy and Brittany and couchsurfed along the way! Now I'm waiting to host others at my apartment in Angoulême.
Interests
I spend most of my time reading, writing, and cycling. Because I also love camping and being outdoors in general, bicycle touring has become one of my favorite ways to travel in the past few years, and I hope to do a lot of it while living in France. Music is an obsession - I like all types, as long as it's not generic! More generally speaking, my interests are pretty eclectic, not in the sense that I do all kinds of different things all the time, but in that I can almost always find enjoyment in a wide variety of activities, even if it's not something I do regularly.
Beyond that my life is totally centered around friends and family: cooking, going out for a beer, going to concerts, museums, walking and biking around, as long as it involves socializing with friendly and stimulating people, I'm happy!

Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS: Too many to list them all, but a few of my favorites are: Gravity's Rainbow, Catch-22, Lolita, Sometimes A Great Notion, Absalom Absalom!...
MUSIC: Again, too much to list: Pavement, Califone, Yo La Tengo, LCD Soundsystem, Caetano Veloso, Talking Heads, Charles Mingus, Beck, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wilco, The Velvet Underground...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I biked from Paris to Brest, and then to Vannes!
Teach, Learn, Share
I could certainly show you lots of good American music! I also know a lot about bicycle maintenance, so if you own a bike and it needs a little work, I'd be happy to take a look at it with you and give it a nice tuning!
