About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to be true to myself

ABOUT ME

After a few years spent in between Asia and the Caribbean I moved back to London little over an year ago. After spending several years moving from one country to the other I am finally enjoying settling down in one place. I work in the human rights sector, and I like to keep active; I am now in the process of organising London's first Migration Film Festival!

I am really interested in migration. Therefore I read a lot about it, and London is the best place to be to keep thinking and experiencing migration issues on an daily basis. A part from this, I am really interested in discovering new cultures and communities who share their space in London. I live in the heart of the Jamaican community, and I love it!

I like to spend my time with other people, doing whatever it comes, but i also like to take lonely naps in afternoons :)

PHILOSOPHY

It seriously depends on the period, but recently I find the concept of coherence as one of the things I am thinking about the most. How to make my actions coherent with what I say/think.

Living in Asia made me change my concept of being a coherent person - how can I say that I want to make my part to live in a better world while keeping on being an irresponsible consumer...? So that's something that is troubling me recently.

If you want to talk over it together, I'd be happy to hear your opinion

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted and I have been hosted

Interests

I like to travel, to meet people and see new things. I enjoy reading, cooking, music and photography. I like to be in open-air places, take part to festivals, busking on the road while discovering new cities. I try to play guitar, but I don't really succeed in it. But I have fun doing it, so that's what counts to me ;) I like to be sitting with friends having a coffee. I like to go traveling and I love to go back home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hard one! I defenetly prefer to read books than to watch movies. Some of the authors I like the most are Safran Foer (a genius), Diego De Silva (an other genius), Zadie Smith (my new favourite genius), Benni, Extebarria, Ammaniti, Rushdie, Sepulveda, Coe, Allende, Marquez, Veronesi, even though the list changes a lot according to the mood I'm in. About music, I listen to a lot of random things: gipsy, folk, traditional, rock, jazz, blues. I like to be with friends and a guitar and make music ourselves

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

being hosted in Tibet by a local family, sharing the home with lovely people and yaks. riding a camel and spending the night in the desert under thousands of stars. Attempting to camp in a small village lost in the countryside of Kashmir. Riding a motorbike visiting buddhist temples scattered in the desert of Ladakh. Exploring Kyrgyzstan, spending the nights in yurtas over the grassland. Enjoying uncountable nights spent in a square with good friends and guitars.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak good italian and spanish, and ok english, french and chinese mandarin. I know how to cook italian food (nobody ever complained), and i like to teach how to cook (i've been working doing this for a while). I'd like to learn more about playing guitar, taking pictures, juggling and making things with my hands

What I Can Share with Hosts

Italian food, obviously :) Also, if you are planning to travel to any of the country I lived in, I can try to give tips and provide contacts. If you are migration nerd as I am, we can talk about it.
